    Try these:
    Ranma ½
    Maison Ikkoku
    Urusei Yatsura
    Inuyasha
(all of these happen to be made by the same person too)

I agree there with Ranma ½ and Inuyasha (I haven't seen the other ones). Both fit the type, but mostly the first one. The second one is a bit darker and more versatil.

Well out of those I named, Urusei Yatsura is a really FUNNY, romantic one like Ranma.  You'll like it.

I'd recommend Kare Kano (His and her Circumstance) or Marmalade Boy, if you want something cute and romantic and aren't LONG series, like Ranma 1/2 or Inuyasha

But if the series is good, then you don't want it to end....thus you'd want a longer series.

Yeah.....I forgot about that one.  That's a GREAT example of a good, funny, romantic comedy anime.  Just make sure you watch it from the beginning of the series, then the Spring Special, then the Christmas Special, then the Love Hina Again OAV's (all in that order) to get the full effect of the series.
