NotapusyEpisode Number: 44 Season Num: 3 First Aired: Monday November 7, 2005 Prod Code: 3AJD04 |
In the "Notapusy" episode, Rita (guest star Charlize Theron) calls Michael (Jason Bateman) a word that he thinks means "weak or cowardly" when – in the British sense – it actually means "sweet or gentle." In an effort to prove to Rita he's not one of these, Michael tries to convince George-Michael (Michael Cera) to join him in some manly activities, but George-Michael is too busy prepping girlfriend Ann (Mae Whitman) for an "Inner-beauty Pageant" at the Church and State Fair. So Michael and his recently-discovered nephew Steve Holt (Justin Grant Wade) enter a triathlon, only to discover Gob (Will Arnett) is the one who stumbles at the finish line. Meanwhile, George Sr. (Jeffrey Tambor) tries to get some good P.R. by volunteering to speak at a "Scared Straight" meeting, but ends up giving advice about his prison days to the wrong group. Scott Baio returns as Bluth family attorney Bob Loblaw and Dave Thomas as Trevor.

That's Tony Hale as Reggie in "A Thoroughly Polite Dustup."
(edit)
The closed captioning replaces the word 'pussy' with '(bleep)' even when the Nurse says it uncensored in the English movie clip.
(edit)
Gob: I think we all feel that way about our mothers. And we all have legs.
(edit)
(Talking before a beauty pageant)
Ann: I could sing to the camel!
Tobias: Yes, we can Google some disco songs with the word 'hump' in them.
Ann: Cute.
George Michael: No, that sounds a bit racy.
Tobias: Okay, he may be afraid of sex but you're not going to win without it.
George Michael: No, I'm not afraid of sex.
Tobias: Oh, good. Have sex with this girl right now. Do it. Go. Get in there, have some sex with her right now. (edit) Narrator: George Sr. came across a U.S. Army combat humvee and the Pope-Mobile, and he decided to escape in the bullet-proof one.
(George Sr. steals the Pope-Mobile) (edit) Pageant Host: And now please welcome Annabelle Veal, performing "We Three Kings" with a camel toe. (edit) Steve Holt: You can control your bladder when you're dead. (edit)

The nurse and soldier Reginald who have the 'pussy/gentle' conversation are actually Buster and the nurse (who later takes care of him when he is in a 'coma') from the later episode "Exit strategy" who also have a similar conversation.
(edit)
As Steve Holt is carrying Michael to stop him from signing up in the army, we see Rita exit out of what appears to be a public restroom facility. However, as the shot gets closer, we notice a man walk up and give her a very befuddled look and a sign clearly reading "Men's". This is a subtle hint to her true "MRF" form.
(edit)
The Christian Newspaper is called "The News Testament" and its headline is "Church and State: An Integration We Can All Get Behind" which is debatable in light of centuries of litigation to keep these things separate.
(edit)
Those green X's that show up throughout are from guest star's Jamie Kennedy Experiment show, whose title character is shown here bidding on the nose Nicole Kidman wore in the movie The Hours. Maeby also tells Mr. Kennedy that she will not be putting him in her remake of "A Thoroughly Polite Dustup," the same movie shown earlier to differentiate between American and English colloquialisms.
(edit)
Michael: Does anyone know why my handlebars are in my bed?
Gob leaving the handlebars of Michael's bike in his bed is similar to a scene from The Godfather where the head of a man's beloved horse was put in his bed as intimidation. The grease on his sheets, pajamas, and hands was like the horse's blood in the movie. Not quite as copious, though, and no horrified scream. (edit) Continuing with the story arc of British intrigue, the episode title is a nod to the title of the 1983 James Bond adventure Octopussy. (edit)

NotapusyPerfect "Exactly why I watch this series" It amazes me how long this series manages to keep jokes going. Notapussy contains so many little jokes that I'm sure I'll find twice as many once this season comes out on DVD. Continue » Posted Nov 8, 2005 8:36 pm PST |
