When Gob says that the video he is shooting is called "'Tricks'... let me finish... 'around the office'" it is a callback to "Let 'Em Eat Cake" when Gob says "Macaroni... let me finish... salad."
(edit)
Tobias sneaks on to (and lives on) the set of Detective Frank Wrench. The show "Wrench" was featured in the episode "Burning Love" where Lindsay goes out on a date with the actor who portrays Detective Wrench.
(edit)
If you look closely, in the scene where Lindsay attempts to seduce Tobias, you will notice that Tobias is reading "Poof" Magazine.
(edit)
Michael and Gob have now both fathered illegitimate children they are unaware of (recall that in the "On the Next..." segment of "Out on a Limb," Maggie Lizer discovered she was really pregnant).
(edit)
Rating: 4.2/6
(edit)
Gob: (referring to Steve Holt) This kid's popular? Looks like a chick I did once in high school.
(edit)
Gob: Well, guess who's been fired.
Lucille: Michael fired you?
Gob: No, I fired him. As a result, I'm no longer welcome in the office. (edit) Michael: (on Steve Holt) So, he's more popular than George Michael then?
Maeby: That's like comparing apples and some fruit nobody's ever heard of. (edit) Lindsay: Can’t you at least come over and Dustbuster or something?
Lupe: I no does Buster anymore! (edit) (After Indian candidate's video)
Gob: (hiding in crowd) Go home, you terrorist!
Michael: How stupid do you have to be to say something like that ...?
Gob: (revealed) You're not wanted here! (edit)

Gob: (revealed) You're not wanted here! (edit)
In Gob's attempts to make George Michael look like a "cool guy," he makes him wear his leather with red and white striped jacket, the same one he is wearing in the rest of the episode.
(edit)
When Gob is describing his new way to make money, he says he is going to perform "tricks" around the office and call it "Tricks [lemme finish] around the Office" but in any past episode if someone else says "tricks" around Gob he corrects them saying "Illusions! Tricks are what a whore does"
(edit)
When the "Indian kid" is showing his campaign video to the school, a cameraman can easily be seen in the bleachers behind Gob.
(edit)
George Michael seems to be in love with Ann during this episode. However, in a previous episode ("Out on a Limb"), he was hatching a scheme to get rid of her. (Reply: Perhaps he's simply fallen in love with her again.)
(edit)
Elections: Ann claiming the Christian vote can make someone president - is an allusion to how Rove & Bush claim the Christian vote put Bush in office.

n/a: Blackstool
Tobias' alter-ego, Mrs. Featherbottom, reveals she comes from Blackstool, England. This is a pun in reference to the large coastal town of Blackpool, England. (edit) Title: The Immaculate Election
The title is a pun of an NFL play called The Immaculate Reception.
The game was played on 1972 between the Oakland Raiders and the Pittsburgh Steelers, in which a play where Steeler's Quarterback Terry Bradshaw passed to John (Frenchy) Fuqua. The ball converged with Fuqua and Raiders safety Jack Tatum. The ball popped out and in to the hands of rookie running back Franco Harris who took off down the left sideline to score a touchdown, all the while the Raiders celebrated after the supposed dropped pass.
The Raiders argued that Fuqua had batted the ball to Harris (the rules of the time did not permit consecutive touches by offensive players). The touchdown stood and the pass went down in History. (edit) n/a: George Michaels Star Wars Homevideo
This is a copy of the video of Ghyslain, or better known as the "Star Wars Kid" who made a homevideo of himself fighting with a stick, which was leaked on the internet by someone he knew in 2003, and was edited to add in Lightsaber effects, both the original and the edited then was downloaded millions of times and was also shown on TV all over the world. The video of George Michael was clearly copied from that. (edit) Speaking mock - Biblically, George Sr. tells Michael he is "Gallant", and says he needs "Goofuth's" help for George-Michael's election.
This is a reference to Highlights Magazine's "Goofus and Gallant" cartoons, which teach life lessons by showing Goofus being lazy, irresponsible, or rude, then showing Gallant in the same situation being polite and concientious. (edit)
