Avatar: The Last Airbender: Episode Trivia

TRIVIA GUIDE:

    • The statue of Ozai being built in the city is referenced Return to Omashu, with the massive structure of Ozai being constructed in the upper level of the city, and it is where Aang and Azula start off their fight.
    • When Aang first fights Zuko's flame daggers, his collar turns red.
    • In this episode, Sokka calls waterbending playing, and Kya tells him "for the last time, waterbending is not playing." This line may have inspired Sokka calling waterbending "magic" in The Boy In The Iceberg.
    • In this episode, Zuko has a pet dragon hawk. This seems to be the inspiration for Sokka getting a messenger hawk in the episode The Runaway.
    • The serpent from Serpents Pass and The Awakening appears.
    • The Fire Nation outfits in this pilot greatly differ from the ones in the official series.
    • When Zuko is going up the rope and the camera zooms into his eye, this is much like Azula going up the rope on Return to Omashu and the camera doing the same thing.
    • When Kya (Katara) is using Aang's advice to waterbend, it is much like Aang teaching Katara the water-whip move in The Waterbending Scroll.
    • In this episode the building of a statue of Ozai on top of Zuko's base resembles the Building of an Ozai statue on top of the city of New Ozai in Return to Omashu.
    • As Gran Gran introduces herself, the woman behind her to the far right of the screen has gray hair on the right of her face but dark hair on the left.
    • Katara's village is one of many in the South Pole, and still she is the only waterbender there?
    • Katara's original name was Kya, but was changed to Katara in this episode.
    • This episode's intro is different from all the rest in the series, depicting the state of the world before Aang's discovery.
    • The disabled Fire Nation ship that Aang and Katara entered was seen again in a flash back in The Puppetmaster.
    • Appa is encouraged by Aang to fly, but cannot in this episode.
    • As Zuko approaches Uncle Iroh while demanding to learn the advanced set of Firebending moves, his gold belt buckle turns gray.
    • When Aang was trying to catch a penguin, Katara had a fish that seemingly came out of nowhere.
    • When Katara is in Aang's tent while he puts his shirt on, during an upclose shot of her, her necklace is white.
    • When Aang is in the tent, after the nightmare, he has no shirt or shoes on. Aang puts on his shirt, and then Katara drags him out of the tent before he has his chance to put his shoes on, and then when he is introduced, he has his shoes on.

    The Avatar Returns

    Season 1, Ep 2
    • When Aang first comes out of the water in the avatar state, the arrow on his head is not glowing.
    • Just after Zuko breaks his spear Sokka's left leg appears to switch places with his right.
    • When Gran Gran is shoved back to Katara by Zuko, Katara's bun is white.
    • In the first shot of Zuko walking down the ramp of his ship towards the villagers, it shows four firebenders behind him. But when he reaches the bottom, there are three firebenders and three foot soldiers.
    • In the first episode, Aang's eyes are gray, but in this episode, they are brown.
    • When the firebender says, "The Avatar has escaped!" He is shouting from the deck of Zuko's ship, after emerging from a hatch. However, this small hatch is where the big hatch for the catapult is supposed to be, as seen in later episodes.
    • In this episode we find out that two Firebenders can combine their fire together to make a big blast, this is seen by Zuko and Iroh.
    • When Sokka stumbles while on the snow wall, the black triangle on his forehead temporarily vanishes.
    • As Sokka tells the children that Aang is banished, Gran-Gran's wavy design belt is straight but when the camera returns to Sokka, her belt has the wavy design again.
    • During the end of Gran Gran's farewell to her grandkids, Katara's braid is missing.
    • When Prince Zuko attacks the village, the position and number of villagers continues to change.
    • At the opening credits, it had the usual beginning, shorter than the first episode. But the beginning Katara already said that they found the Avatar, when it wasn't confirmed until this episode.
    • When Aang first goes into the Avatar state it is seen that his arrow is glowing. But when he comes out of the water it is not. Then when he lands on the ship it is glowing again.
    • While in the Air Temple Sanctuary, the Earth Avatar before Roku doesn't appear to be Avatar Kyoshi. The Air Avatar before Kuruk does not appear to be Avatar Yangchen, the Air Avatar before Aang.
    • While Aang questions how Roku can help him, you can see that an airbender (not Avatar Yangchen as evidenced by the hair over the shoulders) is to Roku's right rather than Kyoshi, the Earthbender Avatar.
    • When Aang introduced Momo into the gaang, Katara's braid is missing and the bead in her bun is colored the same as her hair.
    • When Zuko stands to fight in the Agni Kai, he only has four toes.
    • We can clearly see that the canopy ceiling in the building where Monk Gyatso died has given way, leaving a gaping hole, but after we see the Fire Avatar Temple, we can see from the outside that the ceiling is nearly whole but when we see Aang inside the building "glowing up", the ceiling is ruined once more only to mend again so Aang can break through it.
    • As Aang falls from his jump after Momo, the arrow on his left hand disappears.
    • Many people point out that the Avatar statue next to Roku is not Kyoshi, as it should be. But if you pause at 0:12:19 (DVD) you see Avatars Kuruk and Kyoshi.
    • Once again, Aang's eye color changes from brown, in the beginning of the epi, to gray, somewhere on their way to the temple.
    • Look Hard: At the very end of this episode, when Aang, Katara, and Sokka are flying away and Aang looks back at his home, you can see two interesting shaped clouds next to the temple. If you look closely, you can see that one of the clouds is Avatar Roku's animal guide, (who we meet in The Spirit World (Winter Solstice, Part 1). Next to it, you can see Avatar Roku himself (who we meet in Avatar Roku (Winter Solstice, Part 2).
    • Sokka said that the person who was thought to be in the air temple sanctuary might have "a medely of delicious cured meats". This is ironic, because the Air Nomads were vegetarians.
    • When Katara is trying to get Aang out of the avatar state, she goes in front of Sokka. Then screen changes to show Aang in avatar state. When the screen goes back to Katara, She is taking cover beside Sokka.
    • When Zhao looks at the map in this episode, Lake Laogai is shown to be west of the inner wall of Ba Sing Se. However, later on in the episode Lake Laogai the Lake is revealed to be southeast of the inner wall.
    • Aang says that the fire nation couldn't have gotten to the air temple without a flying Bison, however in the later episode The Avatar and the Firelord, it is revealed that the fire nation possesses dragons which have the ability of flight just like the flying bisons.
    • In a profile shot of Avatar Roku's statue just before the eyes glow, Roku's hair knob at the top of his head disappears, then reappears when Katara is looking at it.
    • When Aang goes to open the Sanctuary doors, the shot shows the door locks in "open" position, but when he begins to unlock them, they are closed, and open again when they should.
    • Just after Aang announces they are approaching the Patola mountain range the scene changes to a close-up of Aang & Katara sitting atop Appa's head in which you can clearly see Aang's right hand without a blue arrow on it.
    • When Zhao is talking it shows the map of the Avatar World in the background, and if you look closely you see that it is different from the rest of the maps we see in the series. The Water Tribe's territories are shown as just circles, much different from usual.
    • When Zhao returns to the tent during an up close shot of Zuko, his burnt ear is normal and unscathed.
    • When Aang is staring at Roku's statue and we are looking at him from behind, Aang's sash and shawl change. His sash is bulky and his shawl seems to be tucked into his sash and appears beneath it.
    • The opening title card is different from the rest of episodes, since it shows the Book's and Chapter's names over imposed to it, not against the white screen as usual.
    • This is the first time we see an Air temple of the four that there are.
    • Sokka's appearance is different in this episode than the others.
    • While Aang is stripping, the area beneath Sokka's choker is white.
    • While flying to Kyoshi Island and Aang looks back to Katara sewing Sokka's pants, the purple pattern on the front of her jacket is missing.
    • Though it's been hinted before, it is revealed that Sokka is highly sexist against women in this episode.
    • When Aang is putting on his clothes after riding the koi fish, the arrow on his back is missing.
    • When the Kyoshi Warrior second to attack (before Suki) knocks the soldier from his komodo rhino, strange pale gray shapes appear on his face.
    • When Katara looks over the rock to see Zuko, the beads in her bun are missing.
    • When Aang says "That's me", the ropes around his wrists are missing, making it appear like he is leaning on the post or standing near it albeit with his knees bent.
    • Once again, Aang's eyes change color, from gray to brown.
    • When the Gaang is tied to the pole, Aang is the only one that has the ropes tied to his hands. none go across his body, whereas Sokka and Katara are securely bound.
    • At 0:04:44-0:04:46, [when Aang runs into Sokka](DVD) Momo appears to be much, much larger than normal. He is standing next to Katara, and his head is far above her waist line.
    • Goof: If you look closely you can see that the number of fans on Sokka's belt changes throughout the episode.
    • The inhabitants of Kyoshi Island are the first (and so far only) members of the Earth Kingdom to be seen outside of their traditional green, yellow and brown colors. Rather they wear blue.
    • In The Avatar State, it is revealed Avatar Kyoshi was the Avatar before Roku. However, in the previous episode, when Aang is looking at the statues in the sanctuary of the Southern Air Temple, the statue next to Roku appears significantly different, almost reminiscent to a male Earthbender. This is due in part to Kyoshi's character design not yet being finalized at the time of the scripting of this episode.
    • The dark green stripes on the Kyoshi Warrior's sleeves vanish, when Suki sarcastically says that they would have lost to Sokka in a fight.
    • When Katara is telling Aang the supplies are for their trip, the purple lining of her hood turns the same shade of blue as the hood.
    • In the scene where Katara asks Aang to help her carry a basket, in the background is a person arguing with a pole, at the end of Aang and Katara's "fight" he's sitting down sad, as if he lost.
    • When Suki is teaching Sokka how to fight, the number of fans she has in her belt changes. When she starts to fight Sokka, she takes one out. When she is knocked of the ground, the fan goes flying and there are two in her belt. She gets up with a fan in her hand, and there are none in her belt. When she goes to attack Sokka again, she is holding a fan with two in her belt.
    • When Aang is pondering out-loud to Katara what makes his stay at Kyoshi Island so enjoyable, the screen pans to Aang's fan-club behind him, then the screen focuses on them, and Kyoshi's statue suddenly materializes behind them.
    • The ridges of Sokka's choker vanish when Suki grabs the front of his jacket when the gang is tied to the statue of Avatar Kyoshi.
    • Oyaji's name (the Chief - real name revealed later on) means Old Man or Grandfather in Japanese.
    • When Aang is showing his marble trick to the islanders, Sokka's ponytail is the same color as the fuzz on his head.
    • The yellow clip of Katara's necklace continues to appear and disappear throughout the season starting with this episode or will match the color of the necklace. The size of the pendant of Katara's necklace also changes from the size of a coin to normal size, all starting with this episode.
    • When Aang puts on his pants after running away from the Unagi, they are shown to be red. But earlier in the episode his pants are yellow.
    • There is a shot where Zuko has three feet.
    • In Japanese, Unagi means eel, and in this episode the Unagi is a giant eel.
    • When Sokka is challenging Suki, she takes Sokka's sash off his waist and ties his hand to his foot. When he falls down, you can see it and it has transformed into rope.
    • When the first view of the Avatar Kyoshi statue is seen, the paint's faded and the wood is weathered. Once Aang flies over it, it looks freshly painted, even though it isn't refinished until the second half of the episode.

    The King of Omashu

    Season 1, Ep 5
    • Aang lies that he is from Kangaroo Island, which is in fact a real place in southern Australia.
    • Katara's medallion shrinks and grows throughout the episode.
    • When Aang pushes Momo into the air vent he doesn't fit, and Aang gives up, but then he just walks away from the stuck Momo. Momo then isn't seen until the end of the episode.
    • Throughout this episode Aang's eye color switch back and forth between gray and brown.
    • Before the guard places the genamite ring on Katara's finger, it appears that she is wearing a blue turtleneck, but after the genamite ring is placed on Katara's finger, the supposed turtleneck vanishes.
    • Despite not being permitted past Omashus's walls and having his cart hurled into the abyss, the cabbage merchant in seen twice inside the city with a produce cart.
    • Goof: Sokka seems surprised that Omashu has "buildings that don't melt.". Except he's already been to the Southern Air Temple and Kyoshi Island, and none of the buildings there would melt. Seems a bit strange that Sokka would forget about that. Though it just seems to be a throwaway remark for comedy purposes.
    • After King Bumi takes the chicken off Aang's plate shoving it into Sokka's mouth, Aang's plate continues to switch from having a clear plate to one with a piece of chicken on it.
    • The table the kids were eating at in the King's palace turns 90 degrees when they leave.
    • After Aang fights King Bumi, he is holding his staff upright. You can see that the number of dots at the top continues to switch from 1 to 2.
    • When Aang catches the chicken leg thrown at him by King Bumi, you can see a chicken leg already on his plate. But when Aang drops the caught chicken leg on his plate, the previous chicken leg is missing.
    • After Bumi frees Katara and Sokka from the creeping crystal, it's all over the floor. But when Bumi is telling Aang about Ozai, the pieces of crystal are gone.
    • During the battle between Bumi and Aang, for a split second the ring on Bumi's left ring finger turns green.

    Imprisoned

    Season 1, Ep 6
    • While Katara is sleeping with the other imprisoned earthbenders and before Aang appears, her braid is missing.
    • When Tyro thanks Katara on the ship and she looks away in embarrassment, her braid is not connected to her bun or even to her head.
    • When Tyro is trying to convince Katara to stop rebelling against the Warden while she is standing on the coal pile, the blue beads connecting her hair loopies to her bun turn brown.
    • When Katara says that the Firebenders will take her to Haru, Sokka's gloves are missing.
    • From Katara shouting "EARTHBENDING STYLE!" to being being taken away by the guards, the fur lining on the bottom of her outfit disappears.
    • When Katara is captured, and when the prisoners are walking onto the prison hold, Katara is second to last in line. But when we see the doors close on her, she's last.
    • When Aang tries to communicate with Appa at the town gate, Appa's lower lip is grey like his upper lip instead of furry and white.
    • When Katara turns her head to see Aang approaching through the town gate after his trip to the Spirit World, her hair loops aren't attached to her bun.
    • When the old man says that everything will be okay to Katara before Spirit Aang appears, his mouth doesn't move but we can still hear the words.
    • When the gang is following the old man into the village, Katara's clothes are bright blue but Sokka's are more gray because of the lighting. So Katara's bright blue clothes should have been gray like Sokka's.
    • The monster's name "Hei-Bai" literally means in Mandarin "black white", a clear reference to the panda spirit's fur color.
    • Prince Zuko's scar appears to be a different color from now on.
    • This is the first episode in which a firebender assists Aang.
    • When Zuko questions Zhao following him, Zuko's ponytail is missing.
    • While Sokka nervously comments on being in the Fire Nation, Katara's right bead in her bun is brown like her hair.
    • While Katara is looking over Appa's saddle for the Fire Navy, before Aang urges Appa to go faster, her braid is missing.
    • This is the first time Sokka and Katara have ever been in the Fire Naton.
    • After Sokka, Aang and Katara turn around to see the fire sages Katara's eyes are messed up. One is looking up and the other is looking down.
    • When the Gaang lands at the fire temple, the shot shows Appa on his side Katara rubbing him and Sokka stretching. Sokka is seen in this shot behind Appa's tail. However, in the next shot when Katara says, "you must be tired after all that flying" Sokka is suddenly infront of Appa's tail and next to katara.
    • While Appa is flying above the clouds and avoiding the projectiles, his lower lip is fur less and gray like his upper lip should be. His mouth also looks too big.
    • When Avatar Roku is finished destroying the temple and it zooms in back to Aang. Aang's eyes are glowing but his arrow is not.
    • When Avatar Roku/Aang unleashes a barrage of fire onto the attackers, the Fire Nation soldiers faceplate's eyes close as if they were real eyes.
    • When Commander Zhao orders his blockade ships to stop, they immediately come to a dead halt, which is impossible in water.
    • At the end of the previous episode the moon was crescent-shaped, most likely to symbolize Aang's journey to the crescent island. However in this episode, which as openly stated in the previous takes place the very same night, the moon is full.
    • During Momo and the parrot-lizard's chase scene, the yellow spikes on the parrot-lizard's back are missing when it's back is to the screen.
    • When Katara is suggesting to Aang that they leave the pirate ship, her necklace (which is still in Zuko's possession at this point) can be faintly seen around her neck.
    • When Zuko is looking to the pirates with the captured Aang and Sokka, his burnt ear is normal and his scar is even missing at some points.
    • At one scene when the gang is being chased by the pirates, one of the pirates hair is colored in all the way. All it is is a line in the shape of where his hair should be.
    • When Aang is in the smoke trying to find Sokka, he's shouting for him and finally bends the smoke away before pulling it back after seeing a bunch of pirates. Look closely at Aang's mouth as he says "Uhhh, never mind I'll find you." The words don't match up to what he says. This is the only recording mistake in the season, and so far in the show
    • This is the first episode where Aang waterbends without the help of the Avatar State.
    • The stick Aang gives to Sokka to clean Appa was not there until Aang picks it up.
    • In the smoke screen made by the pirates, when Zuko ducks back to avoid the pirate captain's sword, his burnt ear is normal.
    • Zuko places the scroll between his belt and his back, but while he is fighting the pirate captain and his back is to the screen, the scroll is gone. When one of the pirates steals it later, the scroll is again behind Zuko.
    • When Zuko kicks out at the retreating pirates, Katara is not tied to the tree. However, seconds later, she is once again tied to the same tree.
  • add

    Jet

    Season 1, Ep 10
    • The name of the village is Gaipan.
    • While Sokka explains how he saved Gaipan (in the drawings), his hair does not line up with his hairline.
    • When Smellerbee attempts to catch Sokka after he first runs away, Pipsqueak has lips.
    • This is the first time we see Katara use her water pouch for bending.
    • At one part Appa is lying on the top of the trees. The top branches of any tree are newly grown twigs and they shouldn't be able to support a ten-ton bison.
    • The Freedom Fighter's hideout was in the trees, but what happens during Autumn? All the leaves fall and their hideout would be in plain sight.
    • When Jet ask Katara to bend the water from underground. She replies "I've never used bending on water I can't see. I don't know."

But in the episode Imprisoned, she bends water from a well. She also bends the water out of Aang's chest in The Warriors of Kyoshi.
    • When Jet is commenting on Aang and Katara's bending after his speech during dinner, Katara's braid is missing.
    • Before the commercial when Jet and his gang are talking about blowing up the dam with Sokka listening in it is dark. When the show came back from commercial it was light.
    • When the gang decides not to fly on Appa, Aang gets tired of carrying his pack and teases that Sokka's instincts should carry it. Even if they weren't flying, couldn't the gang have let Appa carry the supplies in his saddle to ease their walk?
  • add

    The Great Divide

    Season 1, Ep 11
    • Before the Gan Jin leader steps back from the first attack between him and the Zhang leader, you can see two Gan Jin members in the crowd.
    • When Katara prepares to throw the wood at Sokka (after yelling at him and before the wood falls on him), the blue beads connecting her hair loopies to her bun are brown like her hair.
    • Listen Closely: When Aang is telling the lie about Jin Wei and Wei Jin, if you listen closely, he does a quick pause when he says, "That's... what the game was called, Redemption."
    • When arguing about the how slim the chance of rain was, Sokka comments on it being the dry season. This is illogical due to the fact that the show characteristically uses the four temperate seasons, not the two tropicals. Also evident is the fact that given the time of year the show has indicated towards being situated in, it would've been the wet season.
    • Appa flew the Gan jin's old people and the Zhang's sick people together to the other side. Wouldn't the old, since their so clean and elderly, be more susceptible to the bacteria and viruses the sick had?
    • The tour guide's arms clearly weren't broken because when Aang was talking about eating their weight in lychee nuts on the small cliff, the guide climbed up. He would've needed his hands.
  • add

    The Storm

    Season 1, Ep 12
    • This is the first episode in which Iroh redirects lightning.
    • When Monk Gyatso argues that as Aang's guardian he chooses when Aang can play and train, the green pillow he is sitting on turns orange like his robe. Also the rug from before is missing.
    • How did the old woman know where Aang and Katara went after leaving the market?
    • When Sokka states that he had a dream where Momo could talk, this is actually a hilarious foreshadowing to the fact that Momo does actually talk in the episode Nightmares and Daydreams, albeit in Aang's dream.
    • It's clear when Zuko goes back up to the top of the ship to investigate the lightning strike, a good deal of his crew has joined him. As he goes up the ladder you can see them standing on the deck of the ship. However, when Iroh turns to redirect lightning, every member of the crew has disappeared, only to return in the next shot of the deck.
    • The outline of the man's mustache above his teeth vanish for a second while he debates on apologizing to Aang in the cave.
    • When Katara walks into the cave and sees Aang kneeling on the ground and walks up to him, her shadow can be seen moving over him on the ground but the light from outside is still shining on his back, even with Katara's shadow over top of him.
  • add

    The Blue Spirit

    Season 1, Ep 13
    • In this episode we see how effective Yu Yan archers were at capturing the Avatar, yet we never see them again after this episode.
    • When Aang is escaping with Zuko (as the Blue Spirit), he stops to grab the frogs that are slowly pulling away from him. If you look closely you'll see that the frogs are in constant motion even when they're not pulling themselves along, almost as if they are on a conveyor belt.
    • The concept of frogs being frozen is actually a scientific fact. Frogs really do freeze if exposed to lower temperatures. Also they can dethaw without any ill effects.
    • The tapestry that Zuko looks at in the end of the episode can also be seen in the second episode, but then it did not have that triangular border.
    • After Momo brings Katara a mouse, it disappears.
    • Zhao tells Aang that he doesn't plan to kill him because the avatar would just be reborn into the next nation in the cycle and the Fire Nation would have to search all over again. This shouldn't be a problem since the comet will arrive in less than a year giving the Fire Nation enough power to end the war once and for all before the next avatar would be able to talk, let alone bend anything. Also if Zhao kills Aang- the last airbender- then the next avatar would never become a fully realized avatar since he/she wouldn't have anyone to learn airbending from.
    • When the Blue Spirit was fighting one of the fire nation guards, he doused a fire blast with a bucket of water. But because of his constant movements, there was no way he could have brought that bucket with him and not spill a drop of water along the way. In fact, the bucket would have been empty.
    • Notice when Zuko was down on the ground, (knocked by that mysterious disappearing arrow shot by the Yuu Yan archers), unconscious, his head position keeps changing.
    • When Zuko's ship comes near the harbor, they are told that no ships are being allowed in the area. If his ship had just gotten to that area, and no ships had been allowed into the area, how could Zuko have been on the roof of the place when Zhao was promoted?
    • When Katara asks Momo for water, all the lemur hears is a bunch of babble. He constantly returns with everything BUT water. However, when Aang asked for marbles in The Warriors of Kyoshi, he was perfectly capable of understanding him.
  • add

    The Fortuneteller

    Season 1, Ep 14
    • When the turkey-goose is pulling Sokka's wolf-tail, it turns the same color as the fuzz on his head.
    • The volcano is called Mt. Makapu, meaning 'bulging eye' in Hawaiian.
    • According to Aunt Wu, Katara will live to see her grandchildrens' third child, and she will pass away while she is asleep.
    • When Sokka speaks to the man in the red shoes, the rock that he will kick from anger is not there, but after the man walks away, the rock is present.
    • The position of Meng's missing tooth changes throughout this episode.
    • When Aunt Wu first appears before the trio in the waiting room and they're sitting down, Katara's braid is missing.
    • Look closely: The necklace Aang makes for Katara disappears from her neck once they get to Aunt Wu's village.
    • The volcano in this episode looked like a composite volcano. Composite volcanoes have lava rich in silica, making it thick, not fluid. Eruptions from these volcanoes usually don't have lava flows like this episode did.
    • When Aang and Appa leave the abbey, the front gate is completely changed from its original design. The bell is missing, the designs are missing, and the tiles are missing and replaced with regular wood.
    • After Bato sits down during the ice-dodging and we return to the gaang, you can see that the orange bands around Aang's wrists are missing and for the left hand there is no cuff.
    • When Katara looks to Aang in hesitation before deciding to leave and her head is to the side, you can see that her braid is protruding from her bun rather than between her bun and head.
    • While Bato is talking to Sokka and Katara and before he warns Aang bout the headdress, Katara's braid is missing.
    • While Katara and Sokka flee from the Shirshu, June's mouth is missing.
    • Throughout the fight scene, the building automatically repairs itself, and/or moves the damage around. i.e.: when Aang gets up after the big explosion, then jumps over Zuko's fire-blast, he lands next to a spot where all the shingles are destroyed, despite the fact that he landed much farther away. also, the area above where Sokka has his "im getting some feeling back" quote repairs itself.
    • When the Shirshu first jumps on Zuko's boat, it scatters some firebenders who wear the trademark helmet and mask. but when they form up behind Zuko a second later, they are dressed as usual foot soldiers, lacking the special helmet.
    • When Zuko, Iroh, and June are searching for Aang using the scent of Katara's necklace, they stop at the herbalist's house. We last saw the herbalist in The Blue Spirit, but only Aang travels to her, not Katara. Reason behind this is because she and Sokka were sick, which is why Aang went to the herbalist.
    • When Aang recovers from his smack into the roof he's lying on the broken tiles that he made. But then when Zuko runs down the peak of the roof, Aang is suddenly standing on the peak as well.
    • As Aang and Zuko are about to bend to make the large explosion, as Zuko turns it appears that his previous stance has remained behind him, giving Zuko three legs and two waists.
    • When Aang, Katara, and Sokka look at Bato after his explanation of ice dodging, the rope Katara is holding somehow extends to go behind Sokka even though he is many feet behind her yet the rope shows no indication of moving back.
    • When June and her Shirshu leave Zuko's ship and flee along the dock, the stowaway is missing from the Shirshu's back.
