I'm a huge Barbara Stanwyck fan. One of my favorite films is of course as bad girl Phyllis Dietrichson in "Double Idemnity". My favorite comedy of hers is "The Lady Eve", she and Henry Fonda were awesome, another great Preston Sturges film. Adored her as Victoria Barkley in "The Big Valley" and enjoyed her as Constance Colby in "The Colbys". So what's your favorite Barbara Stanwyck film?

Turner Classic Movies had a great tribute to her on her 100th Birthday July 16, 2007. Sally Field hosted an hour long repetoire on her career, filled with photos, memories, and interviews on her life-long achievements in the film industry. Movies from her career aired all day (and well into the night) long. Thanks TCM! For not forgetting this legend.Magazine ad

When I was a kid I got mesmerised by her in the Thorn Birds. Now years, and many repeats later, these feelings have not changed. For me her performance in those Thorn Birds is mythical, and makes Mary Carson one of the strongest woman in TV-history. (I'm not saying this lightly.)

Later, when they started The Colbys (I was, still am, a big Dynasty fan), and she joined the cast (as Charlton Heston's sister!), I was overjoyed. She outplayed everybody in all her scenes. When I think of The Colbys, I still hear her typical, highly emotional voice... Sadly Barbara only stayed for the first season...

And to think that she could/should have played the main role in Falcon Crest! Ah... doesn't this make you dream.
