It is mentioned that if you cross the Gotham River, you wind up in New Guernsey. Across the Hudson River in New York, you're in New Jersey. Jersey and Guernsey are both Channel Islands, British territory next to France.

Robin gives a speech at the Aaron Burr High School. It is an unusual name for a high school but not chosen without reason. Aaron Burr, the third U.S. Vice President, became the center of controversy when he killed Alexander Hamilton in a duel and was later charged with treason. In this episode Robin seems to turn on Batman, in effect becoming a traitor.
