This episode borrows heavily from the 1961 classic war movie The Guns of Navarone. Common elements between the movie and the episode include: A friendly fleet has to navigate passage through an area controlled by enemy artillery, the need to create a team to infiltrate enemy territory and disable the weapons, a unit commanded by loyal officers but containing potentially dangerous criminals, aid provided by locals under enemy rule, a suspenseful countdown concerning whether the enemy firepower will be blown up before friendly forces come under enemy fire and more.
