The Baywatch gang is preparing some kids for the Special Olympics. One of the kids, twelve year old Kayla is deaf. Her father Gavin has been a friend of Alex´s for years. When his job forces him to go to San Diego, Alex convinces him to let Kayla stay with her.

Meanwhile on the boardwalk, a man named Herbert Crane is berating a dangerous monkey named Mighty Moe. But the dangerous monkey turns out to be a loveable orangutan named Morton. When Morton doesn´t scare any people, Herbert wants to get rid of him. While Herbert is driving drunk and loses control over the car, Morton escapes. Herbert follows him towards the ocean and a while later, Herbert is knocked down by a wave and almost drowns. He is rescued by Mitch and Alex.

Kayla follows them there and she finds Morton hiding behind some cliffs. But she doesn´t tell Alex and Mitch about Morton. So when Herbert keeps wondering where his monkey is, no one believes him. Not until, Cody and Jessie tell them that they meet Herbert and Morton on the boardwalk earlier.

To find Morton, Jessie puts together a cooler of fruit to entice Morton. She succeeds and Morton is brought to headquarters. They don´t know where to place him during the night, so they manage to convince Mitch to bring him home to his place. Once there, Morton trashes Mitch´s kitchen during the night. When Mitch tries to take him out for a walk, Mitch find himself outside his door with no way of getting in. But he cuts a deal with Morton. If he lets Mitch inside, Morton can spend the night in Mitch´s bed.

The next morning when they are going to the Special Olympics, Kayla won´t go. But when Mitch tells her that Morton is their new mascot, she agrees to give it a try. While Kayla and Morton are playing on the beach, a furious Herbert approaches Mitch and demands to get Morton back. Cody tells him that orangutans are on the endangered species list, and without the correct paperwork, Herbert will be in trouble. Herbert leaves but he promises to be back.

Kayla who saw Herbert when he arrived, has run away with Morton to a cave. As the tide starts coming in, Kayla panics. But Morton who is seeing light from above climbs up and calls for help. Mitch, Alex and the other lifeguards see him, and Mitch is able to rescue Kayla. Morton will be sent to an orangutan sanctuary in Hawaii.

Before Morton leaves, Herbert shows up and asks Morton if he can ever forgive him. Morton does that and gives Herbert a big hug. Kayla doesn´t want to leave Morton, but Gavin promises her that they can go to Hawaii and visit him many times. Add a recap »
