1. DVD Review... | 03/31/2008 3:14pm

I spotted a review of the DVD on SitcomsOnline.com. It got a pretty decent review. If you want to read the entire thing, click the link provided above. If you just want a quick overview, procede reading my post...

..................................................

Out of a total 5 stars, it received 3.5.

Major complaints were:

- the packaging is extremely cheap and breaks easily (DVD snap-holders)

- there are no special features

- there is no music or live animation in the menus

- the episodes seem to be syndication cut, missing the ending scenes (they are not sure, but they know that the cross-over scene with Cosby, Ray Romano and Kevin James is definately missing)!

Positives were:

- the video quality is excellent for a ten year old show

- the show is consistantly funny throughout the season (except for a somewhat slow pilot)

- the audio is good

- the menu is fairly well designed

Given that I have recorded all the episodes as they air on syndication, I can tell you that the versions on the DVD have more scenes. The only episode I'm not sure is Activate Your Choices, in which I don't remember seeing anything I had not seen on the syndicated reruns.

However, I think it was Drive They Said the episode where Kevin James, Cosby and Ray Romano appeared but their scene is not on the DVD, even though the episode still does have some extra footage compared to the syndicated version that was running on TBS and still runs on WGN.

Yes, the packaging is cheap. The menu is cheap. There are no subtitles let alone extra language tracks. But the video quality is really good and for most of the episodes, the audio quality as well.

None of the downsides bug me, as I'm just so thrilled to have Becker on DVD at last.
