Ten Big Brother (UK) housemates from across the first five series, take part in E4's very own pantomime. The story of Cinderella, is well-known as a classic fairytale and one of the most well-known pantomimes as well. Writer of Gimme, Gimme, Gimme and Coronation Street, Jonathan Harvey joins West-end Director Chris Denys, to produce a very different interpretation of the play, featuring Nick Bateman and Melanie Hill from Big Brother 1, Narinder Kaur from Big Brother 2, Jade Goody, Tim Culley and Spencer Smith from Big Brother 3, Anouska Golebiewski from Big Brother 4 and Victor Ebuwa, Kitten Pinder and Marco Sabba from Big Brother 5 as it's cast.
The show was presented by Jeff Brazier, taking the place of Celebrity Big Brother in 2004, it was narrated by the main shows normal producer Andy Price. It was aired at 10pm each night, from December 21st 2004 through to January 4th, showing the highlights of the previous day. The cast were allowed to return home for Christmas and New Year. A edited version of the show, with swearing and adult content removed, was also repeated on T4, the morning afterwards, were June Sarpong would normally be joined by Jeff to discuss current events in the house.
Although carrying the Big Brother name, the format of this show was very different, there was no evictions, no winners, no prize money (as each cast member was paid to take part) and only one phone-in vote to decide who should play Cinderella. The show was sponsored by Big Brother's original sponsors in the UK, TalkTalk.
Channel 4 had to apologise on December 27th, after broadcasting a un-edited version of the 10pm show on T4 during the morning of that day. Cinderella Live [Day 10 & 11 Highlights]
Aired: Wednesday January 5, 2005
Jeff Brazier is live from the nearby theatre, as he looks back over the past two days highlights. There's an atmosphere of nervousness, anticipation and excitement in the Lodge this evening as the cast await their big moment. It's a live show and they all know they can't fluff their lines, mess up their dance routines or fall over in their immense heels. Steps were still being learnt, lines were still being adjusted and things were still a little uneasy between certain members of the cast, as Kitten again walks out and threatens to leave. The cast then perform the show at a nearby theatre in front of a audience featuring other Big Brother ex-housemates.
