Big Brother: BB6 Episode 13: 5th Nominations

The likes of Maggie, Ivette, and April seem to brainwash Howie and Rachel; instead of going along with their alliance, Head of Household Howie and his partner, Rachel, work together with "The Friendship" to try to get double-crosser James out of the house. Meanwhile, half of the house wins food for the week, and because of Janelle's sabatoge of her team, who protects herself with her newly aquired PB&J Pass, the other half is forced to eat PB&J. As things are progressing in the house, April involuntarily quits smoking, and Howie enjoys the luxuries that come with the power of HoH. By the end of the episode, the only players who feel in jeopardy are those nominated, James and Sarah. Add a recap »

When the Food Competition is over, the spontaneous teams weigh their uneaten food. The Blue Team's (which includes Maggie, Ivette, Beau, April, and Janelle) comes in at 35.5 pounds, while the Red Team's (which consists of James, Jennifer, Rachel, and Sarah) weighs in at 35.15 pounds. The difference, .35 pounds, matters a lot in the end, as the Blue Team is forced to munch on PB&J while the Red Team gets whatever their hearts desire. edit »
April, who claims that she is not a heavy smoker, runs out of cigarettes, thus forcing her to give up smoking. Other smokers in the house without cigarettes now are Janelle and Beau. According to Ivette, Big Brother is not allowed to supply tobacco or nicotine to players. edit »
Commercials during this episode's original airing featured interviews with Kaysar, Eric, and Michael pleading their case why America should vote them back into the house. edit »
This is now the third time that James has been nominated for eviction. It is Sarah's first nomination. edit »

During the Food Competition, entitled "Conveyor Belch," a third of the house, Maggie, Beau, April, and Ivette, are left with a PB&J diet when their Blue team fails to eat as much food as the Red team (the winner is determined by weighing the amount of uneaten food that falls from the conveyor belt of sweets into a bucket). The others on the Red team, Jennifer, James, Sarah, and Rachel, as well as HoH Howie and Blue team PB&J Pass-holder Janelle will be eating everything that they desire. edit »

Ivette likens the food competition to "an episode of I Love Lucy gone bad." She is referring to the famous 1952 episode of I Love Lucy, which starred Lucille Ball. The episode, "Job Switching" , features Lucy and Ethel working on a conveyor belt testing chocolates at a chocolate factory. edit »
While making his choices for nominations, Howie says, "With great power comes great responsibility." Although the line may seem age-old, it actually originated from Stan Lee and his comic book, Spider-Man. When a movie adaptation was released in 2002, this quote was the tagline. edit »
