LATEST NEWS!

Showtime's sex-crazed dramedy starring David Duchovny will be going for another round as network renews freshman show.

The hits keep rolling for "the new HBO."

Showtime has signed new comedy Californication to a second season, ordering up a dozen more episodes, says Variety. The call for a second season was made briskly, as the show only debuted in mid-August.

Californication is looking particularly juicy because the half-hour comedy is actually gaining viewers, whereas shows typically lose chunks of their audience following the premiere. According to Variety, the show has gained an average of 18 percent more viewers in its last three episodes than its August 13 premiere netted.

Californication has proved to be a worthy Monday nighttime partner for Showtime's steadiest hit, Weeds, which is currently in its third season.

David Duchovny stars in Californication as a sex-addicted novelist trying to raise his daughter and deal with his ex-girlfriend.

In other renewal news, TBS this week OK'd a second season of the comedy The Bill Engvall Show.

I was turned onto this show completely be accident when a friend asked me if I knew where to get the first season. I got my hands on it and watched it and I have to say that show is so well written that I watched the entire season in 2 sittings during my weekend. The show manages to be funny, shocking, outrageous and sad all blended together so seamlessly that it's hard to tell where one ends and the other begins. Can't say enough good things about this show.

This show rocks! Really, there is no other show out there at the moment that has flowing shock value like Californication. Duchovny hit a winner!

To Angelwomyn: it's correct that the Peppers have an album/song called Californication, but they didn't come up with that. Californication is a portmanteau of California and fornication, written about in Time on August 21, 1972 and seen on bumper stickers in the U.S. states of Colorado and Oregon. It refers primarily to "haphazard, mindless development that has already gobbled up most of Southern California".:):):) PS: the show rocks, looking forward to season 2! anyone knows when it's gonna air?

Dave will never escape The X Files tag, but at least he's not starring in shows cancelled after one season. Good on him, I say!

This is the best show for seeing naked broads on TV. I don't think 5 minutes passes without seeing full frontal nudity and they keep Duchuvny out of the shots!

This is the best news i have heard all day... although sometimes i think it could be longer... then i think nah its cool how it is coz its gonna have more of a lifespan this way... 5 years of half hour eps is better than 2 or 3 years of 1 hour eps.

I love this show and I'm really glad it has been renewed. I really think it could work as an hour per episode and hope they can change that in the future.

It actually surprised me - Duchovny is bearable and even cute at times and the cast cliks really well. They've just csratched the surface so there's lots of places to go. I just wish someone would point me to all these sex-starved places these women court these successful men who, in turn, want nothing more than to live normal picket fence lives.
