- In 1998, Russell Eugene Weston, Jr. shot and killed two Capitol police officers inside the Capitol. Senator Frist was the only doctor nearby, and he offered support to the scene. Unfortunately, he was unable to save the lives of the two officers, but he did manage to pull Weston through.(edit)
