Appraiser: Sergeant, as an aeronautical engineer I can tell you, theoretically, these Corsairs can't fly.
Micklin: Neither can a bumblebee, college boy. Now, you get me regulation carburetors, parts, and plugs and I'll use 'em. 'Til then, don't tell me how to keep my birds flyin'! (edit)

Goof: Two date goofs.
In the pigs pen, the calendar board shows the year as 1943, which is consistent with when VMF 214 existed (8/43 to 1/44).
1) The USMC Aerial Evaluation form has a date of 5/10/42. This is not consistent with the previously seen calendar board.
2) The squadron throws a surprise birthday party for Major Boyington at the end of the episode. Boyington's birthday is not in May, it is in December (12/4/1912). (edit) Goof: The Universal Newsreel copyright at the episode's beginning is 1939 (MCMXXXIX). This date is incorrect based upon the time frame of the series. It should be at least 1942, though, more likely 1943. (edit) During the initial AERIAL evaluation, the instructor is writing on a score sheet. Handwritten entries at the top of the sheet include the squadron (VMF-214) and the date. The date is written in as May 10, 1943. The Black Sheep were formed in AUGUST of 1943 and didn't fly their first combat mission until SEPTEMBER 14th. (edit) The nurses that are seen rubbing elbows with the guests on Vella La Cava (and are credited at the end of the show as Nurse #1, Nurse #2 and Nurse #3) show up in the next episode as full fledged co-stars....Denise DuBarry as Nurse Samantha Greene and various 'actresses' as Pappy's Lambs. (edit)
