Goof: The Universal Newsreel copyright at the episode's beginning is 1939 (MCMXXXIX). This date is incorrect based upon the time frame of the series. It should be 1943.
Major Boyington commanded the VMF-21 from August 1943 till January 3, 1944 when the Japanese shot him down. Five days later on the eighth the VMF-214 second combat tour end. The group reformed back in the United State later that month. (edit)
