Blue Murder was a show that focused on a squad of Toronto police officers who investigate somewhat unusual cases. Normally they investigated current cases, but from time to time the squad would investigate a 'cold case' when new clues were uncovered. Although not connected in terms of storylines, Blue Murder evolved from the Gemini Award-winning 1997 mini-series Major Crime.

The show was primarily filmed in Toronto, using locations like Berczy Park, Clarke Beach, Coroner's Court, High Park, Kensington Market, Little India, Metro Hall, Regent Park, St Joseph Health Centre, The Docks and Whitney Block.
