Joe welcomes us in, saying that later he and Blue are going to the doctor. Blue's not sick or anything, but she is getting a checkup. She's bringing a book and also wants to bring her stuffed toy, Polka Dots, but she can't find it. We help out - it turns out Polka Dots was hidden behind her favorite ball. Joe says that Blue can hug Polka Dots if she gets scared during the checkup. In this episode, we learn what a doctor's visit is like by playing pretend and later accompanying Blue for an actual checkup. Joe considers changing into a red shirt for the visit, but before he can do that, Shovel and Pail call for us. They're playing doctor, with Shovel as the doctor and Pail as the nurse. They bring in Joe's duck Boris and say that his throat needs to be checked. We help them to select the right instrument, a tongue depressor, out of four. We also help them to check a stuffed elephant's ears using an otoscope (she's diagnosed with an ear infection) and a stuffed mouse's temperature with a thermometer. She's told to rest because she has a cold and sent on her way. It comes time for Blue's doctor's visit and we spend some time with her in the waiting room as she reads a book. Then, Nurse Kenny shows up and has her get on a scale, which says that she weighs 20 pounds and is 2 ft. tall. He also checks her blood pressure. Then, Dr. Maya comes in. She checks Blue's heart and lungs, then checks her ears, eyes and throat. Finally, she tells Blue that to keep her healthy, she's going to give her a vaccine, which might hurt a little. Blue barks and it seems she wants Polka Dots. We remind her that Polka Dots is in her bag and with our help, Blue gets her shot without too much pain or worry.
