Steve invites us in, saying that he's glad we're here because we're getting ready for Mailbox's birthday party. He's 10 years old and Steve and Blue need our help with the party. We agree to help out, starting with helping Steve find Blue, who's floating around in the air, tied to some balloons. We help out Mrs. Pepper and Mr. Salt, who are getting the cake ready. Everything's just about done, but they're putting on decorations and need our assistance with them. We observe that the decorations are being put on in patterns and help Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper by telling them what the next items in the patterns are. For example, there's one with two orange diamonds, followed by a yellow diamond, so next we would two more orange diamonds to complete the pattern. The cake's completed, but we're not done yet. Blue skidoos into a present store and Steve follows. We remind him that there's a reason we're there: Mailbox needs a present. We look at several presents, including a vest and a lunchbox, before finally deciding that a stamp-collecting book would be a great choice. We watch as the present is boxed and wrapped with a red bow and a green tag. This proves to be important because the box then gets mixed up with a group of other presents. Fortunately, since we remember what it looks like, we're able to help Steve and Blue find it. It gets lost a second time, but it's no worry for us because it still looks the same as before.
In this episode, Steve plays Blue's Clues to figure out what Mailbox's favorite party game is. The three clues in this episode are:
Clue 1: A Tape Player
Clue 2: A Tape Cassette
Clue 3: A Chair
Based on one or more of these clues, can you figure out what Mailbox's favorite party game is? The correct answer is:
Musical Chairs
Epilogue: Now that everything's ready, it's Mailtime! Mailbox pops in, wanting to deliver a letter, before noticing the party that we've set up for him. He takes it all in and receives his present and then we finally take a look at his letter. The letter is for him and is just a group of kids wishing him a happy birthday. Afterwards, Mailbox gets to run the music for the musical chairs. Blue takes Steve's seat, making him the first out.
