Joe finds Slippery and Blue outside, playing with water. Slipperry gets the idea to get build a sailboat. The boat seems to work okay - it floats on the water. Joe gets an idea - perhaps the characters should all make their own boats and they'll a have a big "Boat Float." Throughout the episode, Joe and us help out with this project. We find Shovel, Pail and Periwinkle hard at work on their boats. They could use a little help though - Pail's sinks when he tries to float it. Examination reveals the problem - the boat had a hole in it and so it filled up with water and sank. A little clay fixes the problem. We also help Periwinkle and Shovel figure out how to not only float their boats, but also include rocks in them without sinking, using the ideas of weight and balance. Later, we skidoo into a book about boats. There, we meet up with a speedboat who seems to be having trouble moving. We investigate the problem and find that it's being weighed down by its anchor. Once it raises its anchor, it has no trouble moving. Then, we find a sailboat that's going nowhere fast. It turns out that it just needs to raise its sail so that it can catch the wind. We come across a paddleboat that keeps going in circles. It turns out that it had both its oars on the same side, but to go forward, it needs to paddle on both sides. Now that we've helped out all of the boats, we take a fun ride with Speedboat.

In this episode, Blue has Joe play Blue's Clues to figure out what kind of boat the two of them should make. The three clues in this episode are:
