Steve welcomes us in, saying that he needs our help. He's got two rather heavy grocery bags that he needs to take to the kitchen. We get them to the kitchen and now Steve wants to talk about the weight of some of the groceries. He holds up a bag of sugar and wonders if it's heavy or light. We can tell that he's straining to hold it in his hand, so it must be heavy. Then, he easily picks up a sponge, so that's light. Later, we compare the weights of some more groceries to help out Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper. They're having a debate about whether an apple or coconut is heavier. A balancing scale shows up to help and so we decide to weight the fruits in order to check it out. We place one fruit on each end and find that the end with the coconut goes down lower, so it must weigh more. Then, we compare a basket of strawberries with a bag of popcorn and find that the strawberries weigh more. Finally, we test a roll and a stick of butter and find that in this case, the stick of butter is heavier. Steve also tries his own experiment: comparing the weight of a broom and the Thinking Chair. He finds that the Thinking Chair is a lot heavier because he can't lift that, but the broom he can lift okay. Then, in the Blue Skidoo segment, we help out a Bell who is coping with working the counter for the first time at a Country Store. Some customers come in wanting the lightest item on various shelves and we try to help them. Fortunately, we're not alone, as the store also has a group of handy scales to weigh the objects and make sure that we've really chosen the lightest item.
