Bo was married to actor, cinematographer, editor, producer and writer John Derek who was 30 years older then her, from 10 June 1976 up until his death on 22 May 1998.

Bo is in seclusion, devasted over the death of her brother, Collin Johnson Collins, 47 of Long Beach. Collin was on his way to celebrate Thanksgiving with her and boyfriend John Corbett, when he lost control of the motorcycle he was riding on the Los Angeles freeway. Collin was struck and pinned underneath an oncoming car. He suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene according to the Los Angeles County Coroner.(edit)
