Future psychologist and talk show host, Dr. Phil McGraw, alongside his wife, Robin, went to visit him on The Price is Right, during their honeymoon in 1976. At the 2007 Daytime Emmy Awards, McGraw paid tribute to the game show legend for his 35 years of hosting Price, of his 50 year career in television.

In the first years of The Price is Right, fur coats were prizes for winning contestants. However, when Bob found his intrest in animal rights, fur coats and any other products that involved harming animals were never offered as prizes on the show again.

An amazing honor came when one of the most historic sites in the history of television, Stage 33 at CBS Television City in Los Angeles, was re-dedicated as the Bob Barker Studio in ceremonies following the taping of the 5,000th episode of The Price Is Right in March of 1998. Barker is the first performer to whom CBS has ever dedicated a stage.
Stage 33, opened in November 1952, has been the home of such legendary television series as The Jack Benny Show, The Red Skelton Show and The Carol Burnett Show, as well as some of the network's most memorable entertainment specials starring such performers as Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby. The Gary Moore Show, based in New York, used it during its annual trip to the West Coast, and The Ed Sullivan Show, used it for all of its West Coast inserts. It was from Stage 33, in fact, that Elvis Presley made his historic first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. (edit) Bob won the Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Daytime TV Host on The Price Is Right in the seasons as follows: 1981-82, 1983-84, 1986-87. He won the Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Game Show Host 1987-88, 1989-90, 1990-91, 1991-92, 1993-94, 1994-95, 1995-96, 1999-2000, 2004-2005 and 2006-2007. He also won 2 more in the catagory of Outstanding Game/Audience Participation Show in the years of 1995-96 and 1996-97. (edit) Bob won the Daytime Emmy lifetime achievement in 1999. (edit)

Bob Barker: Don't go to them, do not go to movies in which there are animals, because if you do, you are subsidizing animal cruelty.
(edit)
Bob Barker : The producers and executives at CBS were very hesitant about it initially, but I knew that a change had to be made. Once my hair was starting to look more red and yellow than brown, I knew that the days of getting my hair to have its natural color were long gone and it was time to face the facts that I was getting older. Though it surprised and shocked fans initially when I let my hair go gray, they stuck behind me and the show stayed strong. - About his decision to stop coloring his hair during the 1987-1988 season.
(edit)
Bob Barker : I don't do my own shopping, my housekeeper does that for me, so I'd be doomed if I was a contestant on the show. - About how he would do if he was a contestant instead of the host on "The Price is Right."
(edit)
Bob Barker : I don't know what else I would do. I don't have a family to look after and my wife (Dorothy Jo) has passed on to a better place. I love my job, as long as I enjoy coming to work everyday and have a bounce in my step, I'll keep doing it. - About when he will retire from The Price is Right.
(edit)
Bob Barker: The only place you see that is at zoos and circuses. When they are under such emotional stress they begin to sway (Bob said about a few elephants at the Los Angeles Zoo who are under emotional stress and sway back and fourth for hours at a time).
