Notes

add »
Claude Akins – making his first of four Bonanza appearances – played a great many roles in his long career, but is best known for portraying lawmen of all sorts. While he's also played the man behind the badge on such shows as Gunsmoke, Mannix and Murder She Wrote, it is his role as hick southern (and slightly corrupt) Sheriff Elroy Lobo (on The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo) for which Akins is best known. (edit)
A. Earl Hedrick was credited as Earl Hedrick. (edit)

Quotes

Hoss sees southern California for the first time and observes it is nothing but a barren desert.

Hoss: It (southern California) sure ain't never gonna amount to much! (edit)
Adam: (to Hoss) Oh I don't think so. It's sort of like bees and honey. You and cowfood just seem to go together. (edit)
Adam: (to Hoss) ...Yeah, Little Joe warned me if I went on a trip with you I'd be eating cow fodder. (edit)
Adam: Think I ought to go along Pa?
Ben: Adam, this isn't really our affair.
Adam: Isn't it? Then why did you wire a thousand dollars to the lawyer in Los Angeles. (edit)

Trivia

add »
Featured Cartwright: Adam (edit)
In the scene where the stagecoach stops and meets up with Cutler - shortly after Cutler talks about his partner, the stagecoach driver, Charlie, has his leg over the rail of the seat. Every shot of Claude Akins afterwards shows Charlie with his leg down off the rail. For the rest of the scene Charlie's leg keeps swapping back and forth. At the end of the scene when they are leaving, Charlie once again takes his leg off the rail. (edit)
