Ben: Hey wait a minute. If we hook that pump shaft to a, to a windmill - that'll pump around the clock.
Adam: Why not, Pa. Windmills have been used all over the, all over the world for hundreds of years. They could turn every grindstone and every mill in Holland for centuries.
Hoss: Well, how come we ain't never used them?
Ben: Well we've never had any use for them here until now. But, you know with God's help, we could bring water to this dried up country and maybe that will be a way of stopping people from killing each other. (edit) Adam: It's no use, Hoss. You can't talk to a man who has nothing to lose.
Hoss: They can lose their lives.
Adam: Somehow I have the feeling that it doesn't really matter to them right now. (edit) Hoss: It might work. Adam. Doggone it you're still the brainiest one in the family. (edit) Joe: (about Hoss) Well now it's finally happened - the sun's fried his brains so he doesn't make sense anymore. (edit)
