(edit)
This episode marked the second of five Bonanza appearances by Victor French (Landon's close friend and future co-star on Little House on the Prairie). In this installment, he played the chief villian – the cruel, bigoted Aaron Gore. He does things Mr. Edwards would never do to anyone – rapes woman, beats children, insults racial minorities ... you name it, he does it.
Seems like a relief, then, that French – who usually played villians in westerns, likely because of his rough voice and appearance – would renounce all "bad guy" roles in the early 1980s, particularly if the part involved hurting someone (as his role of Aaron Gore certainly did).
