- Tom Skerritt, who plays the psychopathic madman in this final Bonanza outing, was on the good side of the law in his signature role of Sheriff Jimmy Brock, the patriarch of the Brock family, on Picket Fences. And yes, Dabbs Greer – Landon's future co-star on Little House on the Prairie – had a recurring role in that TV series (perhaps he had a positive effect on Mr. Skerritt, no?). Skerritt also had one of the top roles as Commander Mike "Viper" Metcalf in 1986's Top Gun (which co-starred Tom Cruise and Anthony Edwards), also ironic given he played a disgraced Army corporal in this episode. edit »
