1. 100 Reason why we still have faith after "Pain in the Heart" | 05/20/2008 10:06am

I was reading the 100 reasons why "Pain in the Heart" was disappointing to many, including me. I read one post that said it heard Bones would be over after the 4th season. I don't think that's true and the idea that anyone could believ that after one bad episode is sad to me. The idea of the show jumping the shark is upsetting, so I wanted to make a thread that reminds us why we love this show. Whether it is aspects of BB relationship or the show as a whole.

1. Emily and David are superb actors whose awesome chemistry created the Bones and Booth relationship.

2. It was one one crappy episode out of many great episodes. One off episode can't negate three seasons of great television.

3. As absurd as the episode was, it still managed to get a few genuine laughs out of me.

4. Emily and David are still the hottest crime fighting duo on television.

5. Tamara stepped up her game.

6. We still have Angela and Hodgins.

7. Because Booth entertains thoughts of living with Brennan and a hue flat screen.

8. Because Booth and Brennan are Mulder and Scully v.2.

9. Because Booth won't ever give up on Brennan, no matter how stubborn or logical she is being.

10. Because Booth wants Brennan to care about him. And Brennan wants Booth to care about her.

11. Because Brennan thinks Booth is really very nice.

12. Because even though Brennan can revert back to being super logical and detached, she still has "a lot of heart."

13.Because that episdoe was the last of thst of the strikes victims so hopefully everybody can move on to a fresh sereies where nothing goes wrong.

14.Because everybody makes mistakes (unless it was just a dream) and this was a first

16 because everyone derserves a second chance, and Bones deserves a million!

19. because a TRUE Bones fan will never loose faith in this show that they have known and loved

20. because we still don't even officially KNOW what's going to happen with Zach. It wasn't a cliffie but it was at the same time

21. because the writers, producers, and actors have to guts to take a risk and don't follow all the stupids trends of other shows. They carve their own paths.

That's very true. I can't really think of any other series where a (kind of) main character has left this way. Usually they move or die a heroic death or something like that. There are probably a few examples of main characters leaving by going to jail (which Zack kind of did) but then they're either innocent or commited the crime for the right reasons. Whether we like the episode or not, having a main character turning out to be a wannabe-serial killer (Zack only killed one guy after all) is definatly not a trend.

22. Because this show has incredible direction...

23. It is an original series and does not conform to all the niceties and expectancies of other shows.

24. Because there are still many more stories to tell with these characters...

25. Because sometimes in life we don't always understand why seemingly good people do stupid and bad things...

26. Going to a psych ward in most shows isn't always a 'write-off'...

27. No Writer's Strike next season...

Ok, I was the person who mentioned the season 4 and jumping the shark in the other thread. Now, I'm not here to spread hate, not by any means. I just want to put a word in my defence is all.

What I said (or if I didn't say, meant) was that someone suggested to me the other night, before I saw the finale, that season 4 of Bones could be the last. I thought, 'Pfft, please, don't talk such rubbish!' After watching the episode, I felt it swayed dangerously close to jumping the shark, and that if the writing continued in the same manner, then it could be the end of Bones.

Now another word in my defense. I take offense to the idea that I am not a true fan (when I watched from the very first episode and became obsessed by the end of season 1) simply because I express my dislike toward the episode. I'm not giving up on Bones, not at all, I have to see how it all pans out next season. And you have to remember, that my feelings in the other post, were in the grip of my passion. I've calmed down a bit now, and have more of an objective eye.

Like I said, I think your thread is a really nice thing to see. It made me remember how much I love this show, and I feel inspired by your thoughts. Well done on keeping the optimism

28. Because maybe this is the nightmare that Zach didn't want to have, but ended up having because Hodgins (trying to be a good friend), gave him the pain meds and next season, we'll get a real in depth ending to the Gormogon storyline prompted by whatever information Zach was about to tell Hodgins and Angela before he fell asleep.

27. Just because one episode isn't amazing doesn't suddenly mean that the show jumped the shark.

28. Zach Could Still Pop Up In Series 4

29. Soemtimes Writers Have To Make Sacrifices To Make A Storyline. Even If It Means Losing A Character!

30. We Will Get Use To Zach Not Being There Even Though Im Sure We Will Miss Him Lots!

I really have to thank you for making this post.

Some people where getting /really/ edgy. Like you said, quitting watching the whole show because of one episode. (I'm like... Wha? Ok then...)

No need for a defense at all!

I've always been aware of the term jumping the shark, but I'd never heard it so much until I started watching the show. The term was mostly used when discussing a possible BB relationship, though. As much as I would LOVE a BB relationship, the end of the show is what I dread and how they handle BB finally getting together...um...biblically......

I never said you weren't a true fan! Expressing dislike is one thing. Hell I had some choice words tro say about last night's episode myself, but I have heard others say that they are done with Bones and I want this show to gain viewers, not lose them. For one bad episode? I think season 4 will make up for this last episode...at least I hope so.

There have been a lot of changes to the show. It is constantly changing, but the overall dynamic between Booth and Brennan remains and grows(although I think Sweets is kind of ruining it with his constant meddling). Maybe Booth will go nuts again and shoot him.....just kidding......or am I

Nah, not you, but someone else said if you didn't follow the show anymore you weren't a true fan. It's a shame folk may leave due to it, but I understand their reasoning. Haha yeah, they have to tread carefully with BB! All hell will break loose if they damage that. And that idea with Sweets? Not such a bad one

31. Because I think you're all making a big thing out of it and soon you'll be remembering this and laugh about it, when we all find out the next season premiere turns out to be as good as ever.

While I hated this twist, and will miss Zack a lot, I am not willing to let my love of my show go away. It's still an awesome show, and I recognize that. So, I will add!

32. Because we have 3 great seasons of Zack-ness!

33. Because of one line: "You risked everything to save Hodgins."

34. Because, like above, Zack really cares!

35. Because we have great storylines to look forward too: Hodgins/Angela wedding (for realz!), Booth's past, and "House" crossover!

36. Because this is our show. Our writers are smart. They'll make this right, because they're not going to wipe out a fantastic and loved character they built up for 3 seasons. He'll be back, I kind of know it. (or hope it!)

38. You gotta hand it to them.. using a main character for Gormogon's apprentice, risky move. I admire that.
