She ends up getting somebody hurt and is leaning towards danger herself when her shooter comes after her.
| Writer: | Stephen Nathan |
| Director: | Allan Kroeker |
| Star: | T.J. Thyne (Dr. Jack Hodgins), Michaela Conlin (Angela Montenegro), Jonathan Adams (Dr. Daniel Goodman (Season 1)), Eric Millegan (Zack Addy), David Boreanaz (Special Agent Seeley Booth), Emily Deschanel (Dr. Temperance Brennan) |
| Guest Star: | Adam Lieberman (Agent Sanders), Coby Ryan McLaughlin (David Simmons), Adam Baldwin (Agent Jamie Kenton), Greg Ellis (Kevin Hollings), Ron Marasco (Lewis Slater) |
International Air Dates:
Denmark: May 16th, 2006 on TV3 (edit) In the commentary, David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel switch their names. Emily says David's name as if she is him and David says Emily's as if he is her. (edit) On the DVD commentary to this episode, both David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel comment on how many complaints there have been about the credits, because the names on the screen don't match the pictures of the people and because you can't read the names of the two leads properly until a second before they disappear. If you believe the credits, Emily Deschanel is TJ Thyne and David Boreanaz is Jonathan Adams!
This was solved in the Second Season, when a new credits sequence was made. (edit) The commentary on the Season 1 DVD for this episode is provided by the lead actors: David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel. (edit) Featured music: "Hot Blooded" by Foreigner (when they're in her appartment)
"Walking on Moonlight" by Brookville (at the very beginning)
"A Pain That I'm Used To" by Depeche Mode (when the FBI gets into the building where Brennan is being held hostage) (edit)

Brennan: You know, on your x-rays, there's a history of multiple fractures on your feet consistent with beating. It's a common method of torture in the Middle East, beating the soles of the feet with pipes or hoses.
Booth: Yeah, I know.
Brennan: And there are indications of injuries sustained while you were shielding someone.
Booth: How the hell can you tell something like that?
Brennan: The scarring shows that the rib cage spread in such a way that ...
Booth: Yeah, okay. A buddy of mine, he lost his weapon and I uh, I tried. He didn't make it. You know you shouldn't be looking at my x-rays.
Bones: Sorry. (edit) Booth: So, this whole online thing, how long does it last? Because if it's just a way to hook up ... I gotta tell you, It's pretty low.
David: You know, one of my partners met his wife online.
Brennan: You're kidding.
David: No, they've been married for five years.
Booth: Doesn't mean it's not creepy. (edit) (Booth groans from his injuries)
Hodgins: Maybe you shouldn't have had all that pudding. (edit) Hodgins: Pudding! I still remember this stuff from when I got my appendix out.
(Hodgins reaches for a pudding; Booth smacks his hand with a spoon.)
Booth: Yeah. And it's as good as you remember. (edit) (Brennan’s apartment)
Brennan: Romano didn’t give us anything, so I should probably be back at the lab.
Booth: No your squints can handle it. You haven’t slept in over a day, alright? You need to get some rest. I’ll sleep on the couch.
Brennan: You think you’re staying here with me?
Booth: Yeah. Nice place by the way, Bones.
Brennan: No, I’m locked in here, Booth. I’ll be fine.
Booth: Okay look, I want you to stay away from your windows too, okay? A sniper has a clear shot from any of these surrounding buildings.
Brennan: I could have just stayed at the lab. The security is tight there.
Booth: Then you would have worked. You would have gotten tired and you would have been more vulnerable when you did go out. Trust me this is the best, alright? (edit)

The movie shown on the television in Booth's hospital room, before he selects The Grapes of Wrath to watch with Bones, is the 1958 version of The Fly, starring David Hedison, Patricia Owens and Vincent Price.
(edit)
Goof: When Booth gets blown up and the camera cuts to him right before the commercial break, he is bleeding from the right side of his forehead. During the rest of the episode, he is only bruised in the same spot.
(edit)
The movie Brennan and Booth are watching at the end of the episode is The Grapes of Wrath.
(edit)
Hodgins is not driving an American-made car because the driver's seat is on the right side of the car. He appears to be driving a classic BMC Mark III Mini Cooper from the '70s.
(edit)
Goof: There is a continuity error in the scene just after the beginning credits, when the team is talking with Brennan over the skeleton. If you look carefully you can see that the position and location of the badge/card that Angela is wearing on her lapel changes from shot to shot.
(edit)
Brennan: (about Booth) He's a Luddite.
Although now a term used to describe anyone who doesn't like the progress of technology, its origin is from the English uprisings that began in 1811, started by Ned Ludd. The Luddites became a very powerful force against the introduction of new looms and machines that could be used by relatively untrained people, therefore putting their own livelihoods as specialists at risk. Many Luddites destroyed machinery and the movement was extremely powerful at one time. Those found guilty of the destruction were often hanged or transported to Australia. (edit) Booth: You know whatever happened to seeing someone across a crowded room, eyes meeting, that old black magic gets you in its spell?
Two allusions to two different songs. The first is to "Some Enchanted Evening," from the musical South Pacific, which contains the line "...you will see a stranger across a crowded room." The second is to "That Old Black Magic," the title of a 1942 song written by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer. (edit) In the opening scene of the episode, Brennan is chatting in the online dating chat room with David, her future date. When referring to whether or not the pictures posted on line were real, he says that he “Photoshopped out his third eye.”
Adobe Photoshop is a popular picture editing computer program. (edit) When Angela is questioning Agent Kenton about the reason for no wedding ring on his finger she says:
Angela: Brokeback, baby. Gotta ask.
This is an allusion to the Oscar winning movie Brokeback Mountain directed by Ang Lee and starring Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal. This epic love story is about two cowboys in 1960s America who fall in love and spend the rest of their lives trying to hide this love affair from their respective wives. (edit)
