Notes

add »
At one point, Alan Shore says, "Denny, you think you can understand what it means to be Jewish." - an in-joke as William Shatner actually is Jewish. (edit)
In the commericals for this episode, the voice over uses a variation of the Star Trek opening.

"These Lawyers go where no lawyer has gone before" is just one of the quotes from the episode.

This, of course, is yet ANOTHER little reference to Shatner's most famous role. (edit)
Craig Bierko is removed from the opening credits. (edit)

Alan: There's a problem with your theory, Jerry. As feasible as it sounds now, you and I both know when you actually get up to give your closing you're Hands Espenson. Chewing on a silly wooden cigarrette isn't going to distract you from the reality that you have very little trial experience, that you're scared to death just to be in the room and that as able as you may be to fool others or even yourself, I know what you are. And knowing that I know, feeling my stare upon you, that you'll be utterly reduced to an ineffective, mumbling, inarticulate man with Asperger's because that's what you are, Jerry. (edit)
Alan: What do you think he looks like?
Denny: Like me; perhaps thinner.
Alan: You think he looks like you?
Denny: God made man in His image.
Alan: And specifically?
Denny: Me. (edit)
Denny: ...these aliens in the form of Ann Margaret took me to their spacecraft and had sex with me. (edit)
Denny: Holy crap, I shot the Rabbi. (edit)

Trivia

add »
Denny supposedly went to temple with Bethany on a Wednesday night for Tu B'Shevat (Jewish Arbor Day). However, in the temple they sang "Bim Bom/Shabbat Shalom", a song performed on Friday Nights (i.e., the beginning of the Jewish Sabbath). Additionally, Tu B'Shevat did fall on a Friday Night this year, not on a Wednesday. (edit)
"The Decider" is a self-given name from President Bush. The Judge uses it in this episode. (edit)

Allusions

add »
Denny: Same thing in Lebanon. They grab a few soldiers, you respond with overkill.
This is a reference to the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict which started with the July 12th when Hezbollah gunmen conducted a cross-border raid killing 8 and abducting 2 Israeli soldiers. Holding Lebanon responsible, Israel responded with a naval blockade and aerial & ground assaults ending in a cease-fire on August 14. (edit)
Jerry: How many of you saw the X-Files? Friday nights? Lousy timeslot.
Christian Clemenson (Jerry Espensen) was a regular on The Adventures of Brisco County Jr. which aired right before The X-Files on Friday nights. (edit)
