  • Brad Garrett: (about "Everybody Loves Raymond") The writers have just written really great scripts that revolve around believable, dysfunctional family dynamics. I think it helps if you're identifiable, you know? I mean, that's what people tell me, more than anything else, on the street, that I remind them, usually, of their aunt.....which kind of scares me. I mean, is that right?(edit)
  • Brad: (after the death of Peter Boyle, who played his on-screen father in “Everybody Loves Raymond“) I think of Peter and I smile. I laugh and I think about what I learned from him as an actor and a human being. He was a compassionate man and a great dad.(edit)
  • Brad: (asked if he was tempted to do a spin-off of “Raymond“, instead of “’Till Death“) You say to yourself, “How could I spin off the number one comedy on television?” But it was definitely something being considered. But as an actor, you want to do something new, so this was very exciting, too. I was open to both ideas but, for the spin-off to happen, there were some creative choices that really had to come to pass for it to make sense, and we couldn’t get the writers from Raymond. And while we kept going back and forth on those kind of details, this script was sent to me and that was that.(edit)
  • Brad: (on going from “Everybody Loves Raymond” to his own sitcom) I wasn’t looking to run back into something. The pilot wasn’t written for me but I read it and loved the writing, and I knew that if I wanted to go back into television, I’d want to do a character that was very far removed from Robert on Raymond. It also just reminded me of a lot of the writing on Raymond - it was believable stuff we were all familiar with.(edit)
  • Brad: I believe it's a real tedious hostage negotiation to have a marriage be what it is...We're all giddy and sexual in the beginning, and in the end we end up eating Fiddle Faddle in bed and watching someone do their toes.(edit)
  • Brad: Broadway was without doubt the hardest I ever worked in my life and the highest highs I've ever had as an actor. The unadulterated fear was on a level that was hard to explain.(edit)
  • Brad: We get into this huge tussle with him. He's screaming at the top of his lungs and we end up gagging him at some point.(edit)
  • Brad: I'd like to dedicate this to Britney and our baby.(edit)
  • Brad: They wanted someone like a Danny DeVito character a guy who was kind of a pit bull. That wasn't me, but they graciously agreed to let me audition anyway.(edit)
