In this episode, celebrities were this time duped into endorsing an anti-paedophillia charity by denouncing a program in which paedophiles could view children through a webcam and, wearing special gloves allowing them to molest any part of the child they so wished by simply touching their monitor. • This was originally recorded to go out with a repeat run of the original series and was scheduled for 05/07/2001. However it wa pulled from the schedules for some alleged last-minute editing. C4 stated that Morris was unhappy with the finishedarticle and wanted to spend some time "tinkering" with it. Nearer to the truth was that there were a number of high-profile child abuse cases which happened too close to scheduled transmission. The episode as you can see took an uncompromising look at media coverage/panics surrounding child abuse cases, and proved to be Morris’ most controversial work to date. The outcry was huge, amongst it all several MPs who later admitted to not actually having seen it themselves. Iyt has to be said that fans were divided over it. It was quite different in style to the oriiginal series, and most of the origianl cast were not used. There was some criticism that it was something of a disappointment in not going far enough. An investigation by the ITC (television complaints commission) defended Channel 4’s right to show the episode, but at the same time ordered them to apologise for not having given viewers adequate warning of the nature and content of the show. edit »
  • There was a massive media backlash to this episode and a number of the celbs interviewed atempted to sue.

Watchdogs unequivocably threw out complaints by newsreader Nicholas Owen that he was set up by Chris Morris on Brass Eye

"He agreed to make a number of statements that, by his own acknowledgement, he did not understand, without making any checks about the organisation or probing in any depth on some of the bizarre statements he was being asked to make." edit »
  • Lord Coe of Ranmore: A paedophile would be really nonplussed if you opened your mouth and that noise came out - so learn it! edit »
  • Phil Collins: I'm talking Nonce-Sense edit »
  • Gary Lineker: Take a look at this. (shows a photograph of a hillside with indistinguishable blue mark) What is it? Just a hillside? Look again. There's a child there - no more than a blue speck. But the fact is : if you showed this picture to a paedophile, they'd actually try and attack it in an attempt to reach the child. That's the kind of warped mindset we're dealing with here. edit »
  • Chris Morris: Why can we no longer think of the British Isles without the word "paedoph" in front of them. edit »
  • Chris Morris: The Singapore solution : A paedophile has an implant the size of a cashew nut in his rectum. These devices are triggered by the sound of children's voices. "It" hears those voices . It expands to the size of a 42 inch colour television set. Bang! They fall to the ground shrieking and the children are safe. edit »
