Season 3.5 has the best episodes of the season hide show
In my mind, the second half of season 3 has the best episodes of the show. Guest stars, dialogue, and storylines are amazing. Chris Vance (Mental) is a frequent new guest star, who portrays Gilroy, described by Westton has a "freelance psychopath". That is another quality that I like. Actor Jeffrey Donovon seems to have gotten more into the role of former super spy Michael Weston and is doing very well. Horror film master Bruce Campbell is ex-navy man Sam Axe, who is a very loveble character and is good fun. Last but not least, Gabrielle Anwar as the domestic godess Fiona, she loves to cause explosions. I'd feel sorry for Michael Weston if he ever betrayed her.
Welcome to the world of a spy not an active but one who has been burn and left out of the game and back to a civilian life, a "normal" tax payer who will use his skill to survive in the jungle of Miami. hide show
Michael Weston his the coolest hero i have seen since Mac Gyver, there's a lot of similitude beetween those two. the off voice thinking , both are spies and both can do nearly everything out of nothing. Weston is a great teacher of the spy game. you will love his friends an mother. Every episode you ask yourself why this man has been burned out, he is the best in his job. We are enchanted by the flirting of Micheal an Fiona (mostly with guns and explosive). And what about the bad guys, every episode there's a new character who think there at the top of the world and who will end in prison or dead. This show is cool!
Michael, Sam, Fiona, Madelyn and "Chuck Finley" - what a cast! hide show
My husband and I started watching Burn Notice because my brother-in-law and his wife watch it religiously. It's a lot of fun and is certainly action packed! I was reluctant to watch at first because I'd seen Jeffrey Donovan in some guest roles and didn't like the characters he played. He's great in this though; very believable as a burned spy trying to get back in. Gabrielle Anwar grates on my nerves. She's too skinny to be believed as such a tough woman with an affinity for explosives and high caliber weapons. She doesn't look like she could lift a spoon to her mouth she's so thin! The best part of BN is Bruce Campbell! (Just for fun watch Bubba-Ho-Tep, you'll see why Bruce is so beloved to so many!) His alter ego, Chuck Finley, is fun to watch as well. I don't believe that BN would be as entertaining without Bruce Campbell. Sharon Gless does a great job as Michael's mom. She chain smokes, drinks and plays cards with her cronies. When called to help with a case, she jumps in with both feet – few questions asked. She's learning about Michael's former life as a spy and is coping with it the best way she can. I recommend watching Burn Notice – but start with the first season. Sometimes characters from the first season will return later on and it's nice to know who they are!
.. just because it's that good!
I'd call it a mix of Alias and maybe Miami Vice. But unlike Alias, there isn't a lot of drama and some messiah mumble jumbo.
And also unlike most shows, the series doesn't air fillers. Every episode features Michael helping some innocent person while moving along his own investigations of his burn notice.
Funny, good looks and interesting chemistry between the characters make this show a favorite.
Bruce Campbell is priceless as always. Jeffrey Donovan is perfect for the part and Gabrielle.. oh well, what can we say about this beautiful lady.. hehe, she's fit, tan and likes to blow things up..
Cheers!! And keep the episodes coming!!
There's more to this show than the story of a lost boy. hide show
I was actually very suprised when I saw this show the first time in the summer of '09. We only have the first season here in germany but after watching it on TV I was quick to order the second one from the US, why you ask?
That's an excellent question. The thing is that burn notice isn't just a James Bond spin off, and Michael Westin isn't just a modern McGyver. No, there's way more to this show.
I personally am a huge fan of how the episodes are made, the little screen freezes with the explanations, the subtitles for the clients, the bad guys, the perverted stalkers/bankrobbers.
I don't know how this show is 'only' ranked 72. in the top 100 whilst it should be up in the 10's and 20's.
The charakters have depth like I've been missing in recent shows, the story is something to consider, but the direcors aren't taking it too seriously. Just the humor can keep you entertained for the whole show, but if you like more than laugh and maybe have a somewhat sadistic trait burried deep inside you, you will love this show.
It has action, it has humor, it has big guns and hot chicks (more or less) what else would we want?
