Notes

The German episode title is "Auf gute Zusammenarbeit", meaning "Good Teamwork". (edit)
Following the disappointing ratings of C&L's spring 1982 try-out, the role of Christine Cagney was re-cast with original first-choice for the role, Sharon Gless, in an attempt to add femininity to the show after a CBS executive controversially declared that the poor ratings were because the American TV audience "perceived them as dykes." Quotes

Greg Oliver: Listen, ladies, we in medicine know that under stress different people perceive events in different ways. It has to do with hormones produced by the body to cope with danger.
Lacey: We know all about those hormones, thanks. (edit)
Cagney: I didn't go after this job because I couldn't find anything else, all right? I did not come here because I needed some kind of work to help pay the orthodontist. This means something to me!
Lacey: What the hell are we talking about here?
Cagney: What we are talking about is that our butts are on the line every time we go out the door. Now, that gun was there, and you didn't see it. If you miss it this time, you're gonna miss it next time, too. (edit)
Lt. Samuels: You and Cagney have a problem?
Lacey: No, sir, of course not. She's working, I'm working.
Lt. Samuels: But you ain't working together.
Lacey: Well, we don't always work together, sir. We handle different cases, you know.
Lt. Samuels: Go ahead—ventilate.
Lacey: What? You want me to open a window? (edit)
(though Cagney was right in this case, Lacey will not let an earlier insult go by)
Lacey: I am a good police officer.
Cagney: I know you are.
Lacey: Don't ever talk to me like that again. And don't you ever question my motives for doing my job.
Cagney: Okay. Is this over now?
Lacey: Not that easy, Chris. (edit)
