Mitchie really wants to go to Camp Rock, but she can only go if she is a dishwasher. When she's playing the piano, she starts to sing a song she wrote. Shane Gray, a rock star, hears her, but doesn't see her. Mitchie, who makes a lie about her mother being the owner of Hot Tunes in Japan, makes everyone soon realize, she is the "chef's daughter". Shane goes out to find the girl who he heard by being a judge in Final Jam.
A young girl named Mitchie Torres is desperate to go to Camp Rock. When her mom is hired as the Camp's cook, she gets to go as long as she helps out in the kitchen. When she is overheard singing by rock star Shane Gray, who goes to the camp to get an attitude adjustment, he sets out to find the… More mystery girl with the wonderful voice. Mitchie has no idea that Shane ever heard her sing so she doesn't try to get him to hear her voice. But when camp queen Tess Tyler, the daughter of mega-star TJ Tyler, finds out Shane is looking for Mitchie, she makes sure that he will never hear her sing.

Overdone, but easily the best non-animated Disney movie I've ever seen. hide show
Although the plot may be overdone and the characters recycled, it wasn't half-bad. (You have to admit, it's the best non-animated Disney movie we've seen in a long time.)
For those of you who watched it for the Jonas Brothers, you were disappointed, unless you have a major Joe fetish. It hardly seems fair that Nick and Kevin, by far the 3rd and 4th most advertised characters, get such a small part. Or is it unfair that Meghan and Alyson didn't get advertised as much? Hmm... hard to say.
I'm excited for the sequel and hope to God Disney doesn't do a repeat of HSM2 (a.k.a. make a fool of themselves). I hope the acting becomes more natural and that the songs don't become too Sharpay-ish.
P.S. I'd make Jason a birdhouse anyday!
loved it!!!I thought it was better than HSM 2/3.Mitchie is a girl with an amazing voice who wants to go to a summer music camp and does.Shane is a rock star who gets sent to the camp because he needs to get back to his roots. hide show
loved it so much.I thought it was new and refreshing. It was a little like a musical but not so break out in to song any moment.I liked that Mitchie was pretty but it showed that even pretty girls can be out casts. It felt like a real movie that belonged in theaters.Disney channel really went right by this movie. The chemistery between demi and joe is amazing.Since my favorite is nick i think him and kevin should have been in it more but overall goood job disney.I love demi's laugh very unique!!! Yay she rocks.love her and the jo bros.okay thats it.
Camp Rock is just another High School Musical just with some different twists and themes. hide show
My God man Disney needs to stop making all of these crappy sing-along tv movies that make you totally bored out of your mind. Next up we got a move broadcast on television, starring a new star to hit Disney Channel that goes by the name: Demi Lovato. Did she make the right choice of showing up on Disney Channel? I don't think so. I will admit she's a good singer but I'm just saying that she might need some improvements by doing other forms of acting on other tv shows. Obviously now I think Sonny with a Chance is a failure tv show. Okay now in Camp Rock we got Demi Lovato as some girl whom I forget her name. Its been so long since I last saw this movie that I hardly can remember anything. In the end she impresses some guy and they get their friendship back or something. And one of her ending song hits is This Is Me. In this movie we also got different types of girls and all these cliche themes and high school cliques. Now really this is just another boring worthless tv movie that look as if the producers spent five minutes thinking of the whole story. There's a lot of songs in it so technically I would say that this is another High School Musical just with some different characters and settings. Instead of school its at a summer camp with other new and/or different Disney celebrities. But it has all the same boring and teenage-themed stuff all wrapped into one black musty package. It has sleeping gas in it too, don't open it unless you want to be lulled to sleep. This movie sure made me bored and sleepy. I advise watching Kim Possible and The Proud Family instead to have a good time and enjoy watching something. This ends my Camp Rock review.
The music's good, the plot is okay, the acting needs some help. hide show
All in all, I thought the music in this movie was amazing. It quickly got me moving to the beat and the songs were stuck in my head forever after I saw it the first time, it also sparked my interest in the Jonas Brothers music. The song 'Play My Music' describes almost exactly how I feel. The plotline was okay, but the characters were ones we've seen before. (Snobby rich girl, shy kind of nerdy girl, popular girls followers, superficial guy who in the end realizes there's more than what's on the inside) No offense to any of the actors, but I found the acting a little weak. I've seen worse, but it could have been better.
This review coming from a hardcore Jonas Brothers fan...

Camp Rock.
Why the big deal over it? Everyone was telling people right and left it was the "next HSM". Well, I love High School Musical so I put my standards pretty high for this movie.
I found myself in utter shock and in need of a Dr. Pepper to calm my anger.
It may star the teen heartthrobs known as the Jonas Brothers, but this movie is probably one of the worst movies I've ever seen, beaten only by the Golden Compass. There were only 2 songs I liked (Gotta Find You and This Is Me) and 2 characters I liked that, sadly, didn't count Joe Jonas's character, Shane Grey. It was Kevin and Nick Jonas's characters, Jason and Nate. This was the first time I ever felt like killing Joe Jonas for being such a jerk and I found Demi Lovato's portrayal of Mitchie Torres very stilted and fake, like she's trying too hard to hang onto the spotlight. Sure, she was famous when she was Barney, then she faded and suddenly came back. Sorry Demi. You're not Madonna and will never hold onto stardom like she has. How tragic...
