The commanding controller of Lunarville 7 on the moon, announces that he has made direct contact with the force, and agreed to a undisturbed, and peaceful settlement, and to finally end the war of nerves. However this is a trick by the Mysterons, as the controller and his personnel aid are reconstructed agents, and have Captain Scarlet, Captain Blue and Lieutenant Green trapped on the compound when they are sent to investigate how he managed to make a deal with the Mysterons.
When suspecting that the controller and his right hand man could be Mysteron agents, they leave Lunarville 7, and travel to the Humboldt Sea on the far side of the Moon, where an enormous and potentially powerful Mysteron complex is being developed and built in Crater 101. Read full recap »

  • Captain Blue reveals that the MEV piloted by Captain Black to Mars in "The Mysterons" had recorded the encounter with the Mysterons. This recording had safely made it back into Spectrum hands. edit »
  • When the rocket blasted off to the moon, everyone was sat in normal sitting positions, so all their necks should have been broken by the G-force from the acceleration as theren't facing the direction of travel. They weren't even wearing spacesuits. edit »
  • Colonel White says that the "Lunar Controller has banned personal radios and all other equipment". Even given how unlikely it is that he could do this and still have a functional base, all three Spectrum officers get to keep the radios built into their caps at all times. edit »
  • In some of the shots of the Lunarville 7 complex exploding (because of the Control Room is being set alaze by the Lunar Controller destroying the SID computer panel with his pistol), particularly the first shot, you can see the prima cord that set's off the miniature pyrotechnic explosive device, flying across the model set, from the left to the right, when the explosion is triggered off on the left side of the model. edit »
  • When the Spectrum trio of officers arrive back at Lunarville 7, from their trip to the Humboldt Sea, and discovering Crater 101, SID notifies the Lunar Controller that Captain Scarlet has re-entered the base, accompanied by Blue and Green. This is a continuity error, as Scarlet changed his recognition disc with the Lunar Controller's, while the latter was asleep, so instead, SID should say that the Lunar Controller has re-entered the complex, along with Blue and Green. edit »
  • In his opening speech, the Lunar Controller states that the first moon landing occured in the 1970s. This comment, while wrong today, was a prediction when the episode was made in 1967, and turned out to be only 164 days out from the actual date of real the landings, July 20th 1969. edit »
  • The moon mobiles bear a striking similarity to the moon vehicles used in Gerry Anderson's later production, UFO.

SID, the Speech Intelligence Decoder, also shares his name with the tracking satellite in UFO but in this case, SID stood for Space Intruder Detector. edit »
  • The set used to represent the cockpit of the Moon Mobile in this episode and "Crater 101" was created from the old Thunderbird 4 cockpit used in Thunderbrids. In publicity shots of the band Spectrum, TB4's yellow side inlet pods were still attached and are clearly visible. edit »

  • Lunar Controller: This is Lunar Controller. Since man's first successful landing on the moon back in the 1970s, we have gradually learned to live on this barren, apparently uninviting world in safety and comfort. At present, there are some 4,000 men and women living and working on the lunar surface. The Earth is engaged in a savage war of nerves with the Mysterons. This is none of our doing and we want no part of it. I wish to announce that I have been able to contact the Mysterons, to communciate with them and come to a peaceful settlement. This is not our fight. The Moon does not take sides, but we will not support the Earth against the Mysterons. edit »
  • Mysterons: This is the voice of the Mysterons. We know that you can hear us Earthmen. We have no quarrel with the moon and we accept their offer of friendship, but we will continue to take our revenge against the Earth. We will be avenged. edit »
  • Lunar Controller: Let them plot, Orson. They're trapped in Lunarville 7. We will deal with them at our leisure. edit »
