At school, Sakura is looking at Madison's photo album and they're talking about Meilin being everywhere with Li that she's practically his shadow. Meilin comes in and the two friends greet her, but Meilin seemed different that morning. She didn't say anything to the two girls as she sat down in her desk. Sakura asks Meilin if she wanted to see the photo album and when she didn't answer, Sakura quickly added that there are some great shots of her (Meilin), but she received no comment. When Sakura asked her what was wrong, Meilin looked at them and was trying not to cry. At recess, Sakura is sitting with Meilin, who is explaining to Sakura, that she's going back home to Hong Kong because her grandmother is sick and that her family needs her there. Li shows up and told Meilin that he heard that she was going back home. She signed, and Li quickly added that it was really no big deal that she was going away and that she doesn't have to worry about the Clow Cards because they (Li and Sakura) can handle it themselves. Meilin stands up without looking at Li and told him that she thought she was helping him capture the cards. Li, as stubborn as he was, tried to explain to Meilin that she can't capture any Clow Cards because she doesn't have any magic. She tells him that maybe she doesn't have the lineage (or the family powers). She turned around to face Li and tells him that she's been training hard all her life. Li agrees, and Meilin asks him if he thinks that she's just getting in the way. Always the serious, truthful person, he answered her by telling her that sometimes she is in the way. This comment really upsets his fiancée, Meilin, who quickly ran away from Li and Sakura so they won't see her cry. Sakura calls to Meilin and asks Li how he could say such a thing. Back in class, Miss Mackenzie (now their fifth grade teacher) announced to the class that Meilin was going back home and everyone turned around to look at Meilin, as if to ask if it was true. After school, Li asks Meilin if she was still mad at him and she turned her back and walked away. Sakura yells to Meilin and asks if she wanted to sleepover that night and that her dad was making this really good pizza. Meilin tells her that she likes pizza and that it better be extra cheese. After she left, Sakura asks herself why she invited Meilin. When Li claims that he was clueless why, she tells him that at least she was making an effort and calls him Mr. You're In The Way (because he told Meilin that she was in the way). That night at the Avalon's house, Meilin and Sakura are having tea when Meilin asks where the silly stuffed animal thing was. Sakura tells her that Kero was watching movies with Madison. In another scene, two creatures pop up and start running toward each other. When they stopped, they seem to examine the city map and we see the area around them start to glow. Back at the Avalon's house, in Sakura's room, the two girls are having a conversion about Meilin's and Li's past. Meilin explains to Sakura that her grandfather was a student of Clow Reed's magic, so her family and Li's family were always really close. As she says this, a flashback of Meilin's and Li's childhood is shown. She tells Sakura that she thought if she studied with Li's teachers and worked really hard, she could become a magician too. She tells her that she knew that she didn't have a gift like Li, but she thought she could learn. She continued to explain that Li never smiled or spoke or said a single word to her and that he was always very serious. She explains that she never really liked him much because he was also very rude. As she continues to tell the story, the flashback shows Li studying seriously and Meilin jumping rope and having a good time with her friends. She explains the reason that she likes Li. When she was little, she lost her bird by opening the cage to feed it. She sat on the porch crying when their teacher and Li came home. They ask what was wrong and she explains to them about the bird. Li told her not to cry and when he gave her a handkerchief, he ran off. One hour later, he didn't come back. Two hours later, he still didn't come back. Meilin sat waiting for Li. It started to rain and there was no sign of him. Finally Li came back soaking wet and Meilin ran toward him. She saw that Li's hands were cupped and she asked him what it was. He slowly opens his hands revealing the bird and said, "This better be the right bird". Meilin was so happy that she hugged him tightly, but his only comment after that was that she might crush her bird and from that day on Meilin finally realized how big his heart really was. She tells Sakura that Li didn't speak with her for a month after that incident and Sakura tells her that that was the Li she knew. All of a sudden, Meilin starts to cry because she thought that Li was right about her just being in the way. Sakura tells her that she (Meilin) was really a big help and she reminds her about The Fight card and The Cloud card, and how Meilin never stepped down a bit. Suddenly Sakura sensed a Clow Card and she tells Meilin that she has to tell Kero. Flying in the sky, Kero is talking to Sakura on the cell phone that Madison gave her (in the episode, Allies). She tells him that they were on their way. When Meilin told Madison and Sakura that she wasn't going, Sakura told her that they need her and that she was gonna come with them. She explains to her that they are a team and as long as she's here, she's a part of it. At the scene, The Clow card knocks Li down and everything in town was cloned. There were two of everything and both Kero and Li were shocked. When the three girls come to the scene, Meilin quickly comes to Li's aid. When The Twin went after Sakura, she quickly uses The Jump to get out of the way. Then she uses The Windy to contain The Twin card. It captures one of the twins and she tries to seal it, but she couldn't. Kero explains that the twins are two of the same card and that she has to capture both of them at the same time. The Twin goes after Sakura again, and she uses The Jump again. Li uses his Lightning move and he signals Sakura to use The Thunder card. Li's lightning hits one of the twins and Sakura's Thunder card attacks the other, but at different times. The twins quickly revive, and Kero tells them that they can't use signals because the twins can easily catch on. Li shouts to Sakura to try again, but the guardian beast tells them that it won't work. Sakura starts to say that they didn't have any choice, but she realized that Meilin could help. She explains to Li that Meilin can sense his moves because the two have been training together ever since they were little. Meilin starts to protest that she can't, but Li encourages her by getting ready to fight The Twin card. The two attack the twins with a combination of kicks and punches all at the same time, even shoulder stomping, but the twins trips the two. Suddenly a gust of wind from The Windy stops them from falling and they quickly get ready again. The twins are scared now. Meilin and Li put the finishing moves on them and Sakura seals them. Li slowly tells Meilin that he never really thought she was in the way. This comment made her really happy and she thanks him for it. The day when Meilin had to leave came, but this time she's actually happy. It turns out that it was only a visit and Meilin was going to come back soon.
