A dream occurs... a girl is seen wearing an outfit and falls down the house, which the dream ends and wakes up a girl with a scare. Her name is Sakura Avalon, 4th grade girl of Readington. Late to school, she puts her clothes on and goes to eat breakfast. Until then, her big brother, Tori teases her for being so loud and imagines herself squishing him. Now rushing to school, she is in class having a lesson and is seen drawing a creature in her notebook. Now outside practicing her twirling, she imagines her twirler as a staff seen in her dream, which she gets hit on. Her friends, Chelsea and Nikki, compliment her on how she's good at it, but sometimes a klutz. Now, her having an ordinary day at school, but upon coming home, she is alone and hears sounds in the basement. Sakura goes to investigate, slowly walking through the basement and coming to a dead end of the shelves, but no one is in the basement. Sakura then notices a glow coming from one of the books and takes it from the bookshelf. In her hands, the latch breaks open and Sakura opens the book. Inside are cards. Sakura picks up the top one and says its name, Windy. The magic circle appears on the floor and a gust of wind circulates, scattering the rest of the cards into the air, penetrating the house walls and escaping. Already unsure of what has happened, she drops the book but it glows again and releases Keroberos, the guardian beast. Kero is in dismay at the loss of the cards and forces the status of Cardcaptor upon Sakura, entitling her to the magic key and wand, to capture the cards. While still in the process of arguing whether or not Sakura is a cardcaptor, the Fly Card attacks. Kero forces Sakura to do battle with the card. First, all they do is run from The Fly but Sakura finally is able to summon The Windy to entangle and capture The Fly. Still saying she isn't a cardcaptor, Kero has Sakura touch the Fly Card with the staff, allowing it to grow wings and let Sakura fly, impressing her.
US Version:
Sakura and Li are losing to the Sand Card as they fly above the engulfed soccer field, now a sand whirlpool. Just when they're about to be hit by a wave of sand, the image freezes. Sakura in narration asks that the audience probably wants to know just how an 11 year old person finds themselves in this kind of trouble. Sakura takes us back to the day the seal of the Clow Book was broken. Now rushing to school, she is in class having a lesson and is seen drawing a creature in her notebook. Water floods The Sand but The Sand soaks it up. Then Li activates The Freeze, causing the Sand to become frozen and enabling it to be sealed. The Sand Card floats to the captors, coming between them. However, they both place their hands on the card and the episode ends, leaving the audience unknowing who retains possession of the card.
