Sex in the blizzard hide show

Once again a great episode of ‘Carnivale’ which developed Ben’s character. I could have done without a few scenes though.

I hardly cared for the sex scenes, really. Were they necessary? The little man doing a prostitute? I could have definitely lived without that.

Also Sofie going out and sleeping with a guy she didn’t know, why did she lie? He lied too about being married but I couldn’t see the point in any of that. They slept together and, done.

What I loved about this episode were the blind man’s scenes with Ben. Making realise what Ben could do and making him want to admit it and use the powers he got. But Ben doesn’t want to use them, he thinks that only god should be able to do that but eventually he listens and stops the storm.

The second interesting story was about the priest, the men who give him the job want him to go back to his old church but he doesn’t want to. He tells his sister about the children and that he has to help them, later on his sister tells him that there was a fire and he goes on checking and finds the dead bodies of the children.

What’s so incredible about this show is the great acting that never fails, this entire episode was once again beautifully done even though it could have been better.

I’m still left with a few questions, and Sofie’s mom keeps creeping me out.

  • Lodz drinks absinthe in this episode, a common cause of blindness in the Parisian artistic culture of the late 1800s (think Toulous-Lautrec). Often called a dangerously addictive, psychoactive drug, it may be the cause of Lodz's blindness, revealed when he says to Ben, "I gave up my eyes for a fraction of what you possess." []
  • After the storm when Sofie returns to her car, the driver window is open, but there's no apparent dust inside. One would imagine there'd a decent coating, and she'd at least have to sweep the seat off! []
  • Since Apollonia can move objects as heavy as the trailer's door, why doesn't she shut the windows when the black blizzard hits? []

  • Ben: Only God can make the weather stop.
Lodz: Think you can hide what you are? []
  • Justin: You don't understand. God told me to do this. He spoke to me.
Belthus: As He speaks to all of us.
Justin: No. As He spoke to Abraham, Isaiah and Moses. []
  • Alligator Boy: Oh, I hate albinos! (shudders in disgust) []
