Canadian actress Caroline Dhavernas, best known to American audiences as Jaye Tyler, the gift shop clerk who hears inanimate objects talk, on the short-lived but critically-acclaimed series Wonderfalls, was born into a Québécois acting family in Montreal, Quebec. As she was sent to English-speaking elementary schools, Caroline learned English at an early age. When she was eight years old, her father introduced her to the world of show business via projects involving dubbing work even though Caroline didn't really love doing it. At 12, she was already auditioning for film and television appearances. This was when Dhavernas felt that acting was what she really wanted.

In 1990, she made her professional acting debut in the film Comme un Voleur. The following year, she appeared on her first television series as Abeille on the daytime soap Marilyn. Throughout the '90s, Dhavernas has starred in several Canadian television productions such as Zap (1993), Jasmine, Urgence (1996), Lobby (1997), and Le Pollock (1999). In 2000, Caroline landed the role which made her a household name among French Canadian audiences when she was cast as Stephanie on the highly-successful series Tag I and Tag II. Her performance on the show earned her a Gémeaux award (Quebec TV awards) nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Supporting Role.

On the big screen, Caroline portrayed Canadian long-distance swimmer Marilyn Bell in the TV movie Heart: The Marilyn Bell Story (1999). Her other notable films include Lost and Delirious (2001), Out Cold (2001), and Edge of Madness (2002). Beginning 2001, she has been dividing her time auditioning in both Canada and New York, where she was introduced to her agent through actress Patricia Clarkson. This started her acting career in the US with her role as Jaye Tyler, a sales clerk at Wonder Falls Gift Emporium, on Wonderfalls, as the one character television audiences fondly remember her by. Since the untimely cancellation of the show in 2004, Dhavernas has starred in various film projects such as the dramas These Girls (2005) and Niagara Motel (2006), the crime thrillers Hollywoodland (2006) and Breach (2007), and the war drama Passchendaele (2008).
