The Southern Line and The Panhandle have merged, creating a threat to the Midwest and Central.
Mr Carter, The president of Midwest and Central, has summoned Casey Jones to St. Louis. He tells Casey the government is about to award a contract to carry the mail between St. Louis and Fort Worth.
Winning this contract would save Midwest and Central from financial ruin, but it all hangs on a race between the two railroad companies, or more specifically, between The Cannonball Express and Southern and Panhandle's The Swamp Tiger.
Southern and Panhandle don't play fair, and soon Casey and his crew have to face all manner of obstructions to stay in the race. (edit)
