Celebrity Blackjack: Championship Tournament

Episode Summary

The Championship Tournament of Celebrity Blackjack features an intense match with tensions sometimes threatening to boil over. Caroline Rhea's lively personality provides a lot of comedy as she takes huge leads with her incredible luck and wishes bad tidings for the rest of the table. Ben Stein is the most consistent player, maintaining his previous strategy of usually betting minimum, but it costs him when it comes to the final hand. At the final hand, Caroline Rhea has a lead of about $30,000 over her nearest opponent, Dean Cain. With only $5,000, Shannon finds herself out of the match for all intents and purposes. Interesting final hand in which Caroline Rhea stood unexpectedly and won the game with a total of $348,500 after the dealer busted. She took home $100,000 for her two charities.

  • When Ben said "Caroline, you're such a bitch, it's unbelievable," close-captioning read (bleep) as if they had meant to censor it. []
  • Chynna Phillips was unavailable to play in this tournament. Her husband William Baldwin took her place and was credited as Billy Baldwin. []
  • The celebrities all played for the same charities as they did in previous episodes. To recap, those were: Shannon Elizabeth - Animal Avengers, Billy Baldwin - Tribe of Heart, Dean Cain - Malibu Foundation for Youth and Families, Caroline Rhea - Much Love Animal Rescue & Project ALS, Ben Stein - Friends of Animals []
  • 90 minute finale with some heavy editing. Two commercial breaks lasted over 4 minutes and the same number of hands as previous episodes were edited to fill a 90 minute show slot instead of 60 minutes. []
  • Ben: Did you just give her the finger!? []
  • Caroline: I cabbage-patch, I'm warning you all. []

  • Caroline: Uh uh uh.
    Dave: What was that?
Ben: She's Howard Dean. She just learned she lost the primary.
This may be a reference to the infamous "Dean Scream," much bally-hooed in the media after Howard Dean, who was seeking the 2004 Democratic Persidential nomination, made this noise during a campaign speech. (Although some have debeated whether it ever actually happened.) []
  • Caroline: The Da Vinci Code said always hit a 15.
The Da Vinci Code is a popular thriller that weaves a murder-mystery with the works of the great artist Leonardo Da Vinci. []
