Long-rumored show official; cast of eight includes former Idol, Brigitte Nielsen, Daniel Baldwin.

Just when you think reality television can't go any lower (city-girl-meets-country-bumpkin Farmer Wants a Wife, Internet-hottie-meets-everyone A Shot at Love With Tila Tequila), another show comes along to remind us that there is still some digging left to do.

Dr. Drew loves to party!

The latest show from onetime-music channel VH1 involves two of gossip rags' favorite subjects: celebrities and drugs. The long-rumored Celebrity Rehab was made official by the network yesterday, and in doing so, VH1 also revealed its host, participants, and start date.

Dr. Drew Pinsky, best known as Dr. Drew from the call-in radio show Loveline, will move from mentoring young adults and teenagers on the ways of safe sex and other issues to walking celebrities through their chemical-addiction problems.

Those looking for a Lindsay Lohan or Nick Nolte (oh man, that would have been sweet) among the twitching, nose-wiping cast will just have to stick to Us Weekly. These "famous" people were probably doing drugs for a reason--for most of them, their 15 minutes of fame was more like five.

Celebrity participants in Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew include:

Daniel Baldwin--actor, Homicide: Life on the Street
Seth "Shifty" Binzer--frontman for rapcore band Crazy Town
Mary Carey--porn star, one time presidential "candidate"
Chyna--actress, former wrestler, Surreal Life star
Jeff Conaway--actor, Taxi, Babylon 5
Jaimee Foxworth--former Family Matters star-turned-porn star
Brigitte Nielsen--actress, former beau of Sylvester Stallone
Ricco Rodriguez--mixed martial arts fighter
Jessica Sierra--former American Idol participant

Chyna will battle her addiction in a no-holds-barred steel cage match.

In the show, the celebs will undergo intense treatment at a Southern California treatment facility, then have the option of residing in a sober-living community for a few months.

Some of the cast, including Baldwin, Conaway, Nielsen, and Chyna, have previously appeared on reality programs such as Celebrity Fit Club and The Surreal Life.

VH1 has not revealed what addictions each star is going into treatment for, but many of the participants have pasts with alcohol and cocaine. This week, videos surfaced of Binzer gleefully smoking crack and Conaway snorting a white substance. The clips are allegedly from Celebrity Rehab.

Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew will debut January 10 at 10 p.m. on VH1. The series will have eight one-hour episodes.

They give so much time to Jeff Conaway. Wonder if they are going to spin off a new show around him. the Jeff Conaway Waste a way a day show. My first thought was same as alot of people who posted here. What is going on with this. Though I think the message the MIGHT be trying to get out is there are alot of people who are so messed up and into drugs and if they (the celebrities) can reach out and get to someone, well that's one person saved. I can be quite wrong too though.

Can't wait to see this new show. I am big Chyna fan. She is my favorrite actress. I saw her profile on millionaire dating site WealthyRomance.com last week. I am wondering what kind of relationship she is looking for on that site!

Well said SoylentYellow, I remember when VH1 had many music channels. They need to change music first from their name because there less of becoming a music channel. Canceling Top 10 videos, Pop Up Video and more. MTV the same Music Telivsion my butt, they are becoming more reality but there reality is pritty great, acctually better then what comes from CBS & ABC except Big Brother.

Another VH-1 reality schlockfest? I remember when VH-1 (and MTV) were great networks showing music videos - now all they do is show crappy exploitation reality freak shows. Will someone please start a 24/7 music video channel??? WITH NO REALITY SHOWS? Pleaaaaaaaaaase.

This sounds pretty bad, especially that cast. I am mildly intersted in seeing Daniel Baldwin rehab it up -- that ***** is completly whacked out of his mind.
