Only one force can stop this evil...a handful of brave men.

Ace McCloud, (Air Operations Specialist), Max Ray (Sea Operations Specialist), and Jake Rockwell, (Land Operations Specialist), must try and stop Terror, using their highly advanced and versatile exoframes (Which transforms them into a one-man fighting army) they strive to beat back the deadly cyborg threat to the civilized world...

Whatever the Challenge...they stand ready!

THE CENTURIONS!

This series told the exploits of the Centurions against the forces of Doc Terror and his cyborg army. The main three Centurions, Ace, Jake and Max, were commanded by the resourceful Crystal Kane, who was based in the space-station, Skyvault. Whenever they were needed for a mission, Crystal would beam them to the required location along with their required weapon systems, which would fuse to their exoframe suits on the command of "Power Extreme!"

During the course of the series' run, two new Centurions joined the team, Rex Charger, (Energy Operations Specialist) and John Thunder, (Infiltration Operations Specialist). Other semi-regular characters included Jake's faithful dog Shadow, Crystal's orang-utan companion Lucy, the scientist Dr. Wu, and Doc Terror's daughter, Amber.

The show itself comprised of 65 episodes and ran in syndication during 1986, first airing as a five-episode mini-series and a then as a full series. All of the episodes originally aired with short "science lesson" segments at the end of each episode, but from 1995 onwards, these segments were removed from syndication in foreign prints of the episodes. The series was notable for creating a fairly credible vision of a future world, using quite a few ideas taken from popular literary science-fiction writers such as Arthur C. Clarke & William Gibson.

One of the show's character designers was the late comic book writer/artist legend, Jack Kirby, co-creator of most of the original Marvel Comics characters. He was assisted by another comics legend, Gil Kane, famous for his work on the silver-age Green Lantern and Spider-Man comics. The series was animated, storyboarded and directed by the Japanese animation company Sunrise (most famous for their Mobile Suit Gundam series) for Ruby-Spears Studio, although none of the animators or the company are listed in the end credits.

The Centurions televison series was also quite popular abroad, and in the U.K., it was given wide exposure on the Saturday morning show 'Get Fresh' from Summer 1986 to Summer 1989. Unlike the U.S. version of Cartoon Network, where Centurions has become something of a semi-regular feature over the years, the series has only intermittently appeared on the U.K. version of the channel. The series was first shown by Cartoon Network U.K. in 1994 with a daily run that got through all of the series more than once, and disappeared until the first week of August 1996, when five episodes were shown (although it was originally scheduled to run for the next couple of months before their plans changed). The show was most recently seen in the U.K. from November 2000 to May 2001, on the Cartoon Network spin-off channel Boomerang U.K., as part of it's all too short-lived "Boomeraction" block, which also compromised of other Hanna-Barbera cartoons such as Gobots, the original Fantastic Four cartoon and the early Johnny Quest shows.less «

  Many series released on DVD have the episodes arranged in a very different order to the way they were originally aired on TV (such as Gerry Anderson's UFO & Defenders of the Earth). This can be because some TV networks don't care what order the episodes are played, especially when it comes to cartoon shows aimed at kids. However, this means that anyone carefully watching each episode in order will discover complete inconsistencies in the overall plot which can undermine an otherwise excellent show. So here is my watching guide to Centurions to help you better enjoy the series (and I hope the running order will be addressed when this great series finally gets a DVD release). Hole in the Ocean Part 2 Reasoning for the altered running order: MILD SPOILER WARNING Introduction of Rex Charger and John Thunder - The three original Centurions meet, and allow to join, Rex Charger and John Thunder in the five-part story "Man or Machine" (Episodes 61-65). In the two-part story "The Better Half" (Episodes 58-59), the Centurions make a big deal of the fact that there are only three of them on more than one occasion, which means that all episodes featuring Rex Charger and/or John Thunder must occur after "Man or Machine Part 5" (these are Episodes 41,42,47,50-51 & 54-57). The Destruction of SeaLab - SeaLab is totally destroyed in "Battle Beneath the Ice" (Episode 11). In "Man or Machine Part 1" (Episode 61), Mei Lee says that SeaLab has recently been rebuilt after its destruction, although Jake Rockwell's comments about "remembering it well" suggests that it didn't just happen. However, SeaLab appears in many episodes after "Battle Beneath the Ice" with no explanation as to why it still exists. SeaLab's final appearance before "Man or Machine Part 1" is in the two-parter "Atlantis Adventure" (Episodes 48-49), meaning that the simplest method of re-organising would be to place "Battle Beneath the Ice" somewhere after "Atlantis Adventure Part 2" and before "Man or Machine Part 1" (noting that Episodes 50-51 & 54-57 have already been placed after "Man or Machine Part 5"). I think that placing "Battle Beneath the Ice" just before "The Better Half Part 1" is as good an arbitrary place as any, as it gives a three episodes gap before it's 'remembered' in "Man or Machine Part 1", but it's not so long ago that the viewer may have forgotten all the details of that story. Further Tweaking? - I'm sure there are many more arguments for other swap-rounds in the episode running order. I've only just finished watching all 65 episodes after several months, so I'm not prepared to watch them all again straight away to look carefully for other subtle plot or character development discrepancies. My attempt has been to leave the original airing order in-tact as much as possible, and have only changed it where it seems absolutely necessary.   This is one of the shows that I loved when I was younger and I still love it today. I can honestly say that it is one of the best shows ever on tv and everyone from kids to adults should watch this show, and for it's time it was very unique and set the path for other shows like it. This tv show was originally made to launch the toys for the show and each toy could combine with all the weapon systems and you could combine two weapon systems like you see in the show every know and then. All in all an awesome show that everyone should see at least once.

  This is an average show, but I also enjoyed watching this. The show is done quite well. The plot is quite interesting. I am also quite interested in the main characters. They go quite a bit of my attention. What I can say about this show is just that it is very superb in terms of giving the viewers enjoyment as long as they give much attention to it. It can be worth your time, just don’t get bored at first. Later, you will see that this show can be great indeed. Just have patience. I am not saying this show is boring. It can be fun.

  It was a great show from my youth. I even liked when they added two extra centurions. I wish I had that golden knife. I want to say before it's time, but really given the way of cartoons today, that was the perfect time for the show to come out.

  I absolutely loved this cartoon when I was a kid and what kid couldn't love it?!
  
  You had three "agents" Ace McCloud, Max Ray and Jake Rockwell all able to call upon equipment/vehicles that are beamed from a space station and attach to their specially designed suits.
  
  Each agent is a master of a specific terrain - Air, Land or Sea and with a manly "POWER EXTREME!!!" Each agent becomes infused with the necessary equipment.
  
  The enemies of the Centurions were Doc Terror and his henchman Hacker.
  
  I really did like this show and had the figures which were (If I remember correctly) 12 inches and you could buy all the accessory packs - fantastic!

  There is an online petition for this show, that is trying to convince the people that own the show to release them on DVD which is very cool,
