Phoebe and Miles are wrapping up another one of their dates. While talking about how a good date ends, in the bedroom rather than the front porch, Piper and Leo barge through on their way into the house. During a kiss, Phoebe has a premonition of Miles dying the next day in a cross fire of bullets at a police shoot out.

Leo asks why Piper is not happy that Phoebe has begun to move on. Piper tells him that it is only a bounce back relationship and that really Phoebe and Miles have nothing in common. Clearly Piper does not approve of the new relationship. Overhearing the conversation, Paige and her current boyfriend, Max, are making out on the couch. Right then Phoebe and Miles run into the house and up to Phoebe’s bedroom to get it on.

After saying goodbye to Miles the next morning, Phoebe tells her sisters what she saw about Miles’ death. Everyone decides that they must protect Miles. Piper and Phoebe go to Miles’ work, but he has already left. They begin to chase after him to try and stop his death. They make it to the alley in time and Piper freezes the time so that Phoebe can stop the bullets and take away one person’s gun. When Piper unfreezes time, Phoebe jumps on top of Miles in an effort to make it look like she pushed him out of the way of the bullet. Miles believes that Phoebe saved his life. As they kiss Phoebe sees another premonition where Miles is attacked at the manor that evening. After Piper and Phoebe leave, a demon appears from a brick wall.

Back at the manor, Phoebe tells the sisters the new premonition. Everyone decides that Miles must have something after him and that he must be protected. They decide to have him over for a family dinner. Meanwhile, Brakara, the demon from the alley goes to Cole. He tells Cole that he is from the future and that Cole is running the underworld. Cole had asked Brakara to go back in time and let the innocent, Miles, die because he was truly meant to die at that time. Since Phoebe saved him, the Angel of Death will work overtime to bring Miles home. Since Phoebe keeps seeing premonitions about Miles’ deaths she tries for six months to save him, in the end she dies from her efforts. Future Cole doesn’t want this to happen, so he sent his right hand man, Brakara to kill Miles. Present Cole doesn’t like this, and knows that he will not kill Miles because that will only make Phoebe hate him more.

At the dinner, Brakara appears. Right before he shows, Cole tells Piper what he knows and that everyone is in danger. The girls try to kill Brakara but fail. High from facing the Charmed Ones and not dying, Brakara seeks himself in the present. They concoct a plan to face The Charmed Ones and steal the Book of Shadows.

After saving Miles again at the dinner, Phoebe gets another premonition of Miles’ falling from his balcony in his apartment. She accompanies him to his apartment in order to try and save him. After Piper and Paige get the whole story from Cole they go to warn Phoebe of what they are facing. While the girls are talking in the hallway, Miles leans against his balcony and almost falls to his death. Phoebe saves him yet again.

At the manor, the sisters are just in the attic when Future Brakara and Present Brakara appear. They get the Book of Shadows and disappear. The girls are very scared, but with a little pep talk from Leo decide they can make new potions and spells. When the time comes to face Brakara it is too late, he is quicker to say his spell, taking the Charmed Ones powers. First he throws a fireball at Paige and then one at Phoebe, both fall into a pile of ash. Leo orbs Piper out right in the nick of time.

Leo tells Piper that if they can find the time ripple that Brakara traveled through, and then they can reverse the damage that is done. They finally find the ripple; Piper goes through to the past. She finds herself that is waiting outside of Miles’ work place the day earlier and tells her to allow for Miles to die. That his time has simply come and they must allow for this to happen or everything will turn bad. Past Piper believes herself and tells Phoebe the wrong direction to go. Miles is shot and things are put back the way they should be; no Brakara, no missing Book of Shadows, and one heartbroken Phoebe.
