Phoebe returns to San Francisco to live with her older sisters, Prue and Piper at their grandmother's house six months after her death. During their first night together in their grandmother's house, Phoebe finds the Book of Shadows, a book of witchcraft and recites an incantation that leaves the sisters three with powers they were destined to have. In this episode the sisters "adopt" Kit a stray who unknowing to them belonged to the first witch shown that Jeremy killed. However this will be contradicted in the season 3 episode Pre-witched, when in flashbacks it's shown that Kit had been hanging around since Grams died. edit »
While having coffee with Phoebe,Prue is able to transfer the milk into her mug from the saucer. However, this is not actually how her power works throughout the show. What should have happened was for the saucer to pour her milk into the coffee, that would have been telekenetic, what she did was switch the milk from the saucer into the mug which is not how her power will ever work again for the rest of the show. edit »

Andy: Good morning!
(He's holding a paper and a cup of coffee.)
Prue: Hey, this is a surprise.
Andy: I've been feeling really guilty about that bad cup of coffee. I just want to make it up to you.
Prue: So, you brought me a good cup of coffee?
Andy: Oh this? No, this is mine. I, uh, just wanted to ask you out to dinner. Unless of course you're afraid.
Prue: Afraid of what?
Andy: Oh, you know, having too good a time, stirring up old memories, rekindling the old flame.
Prue: Hmm, good point, better not.
Andy: Okay. Friday night, eight o'clock? You're hesitating.
Prue: Yeah, but it's not what you think. It's just that my life has gotten a bit complicated. Can I call you?
Andy: Sure.
(He gives her his card.)
Andy: Take care, Prue.
Prue: Bye, Andy.
(He walks to his car. Phoebe and Piper come outside. Phoebe's holding the cat.)
Phoebe: It's Andy. I told you I heard a man's voice.
Piper: What did he want?
Prue: He asked me out.
Piper: And you said...?
Prue: Well, I started to say yes, and then I stopped. I wondered if I could date. I mean, do witches date?
Piper: Not only do they date but they usually get the best guys.
Prue: You two will not be laughing when this happens to you. Believe me, everything will be different now.
Phoebe: Well, at least our lives won't be boring.
Prue: But they'll never be the same.
Phoebe: And this is a bad thing?
Prue: No. But it could be a big problem.
Piper: Prue's right. What are we gonna do?
Phoebe: What can't we do?
Prue: We're going to be careful, we're going to be wise, and we're gonna stick together.
Piper: This should be interesting.
(They get inside. Prue looks at the door, closing it telekinetically.) edit »

Prue (talking about Phoebe): Piper, the girl has no vision of the future.

This is a funny blurb because later in the series Phoebe develpos the power of preminition (the power to see into the future). edit »
Piper: And we have a cousin who's a drunk, an aunt who's manic, and a father who's invisible.

Through the series, only the "invisible father" was introduced: Victor. Patty doesn't have any siblings and we don't know if Victor does, so there isn't any information about Halliwell's aunts or cousins. edit »
Piper (reading the inscription on the spirit board): To my three beautiful girls. May this give you the light to find the Shadows. The power of three will set you free. Love, Mom.

It's never revealed what this inscription meant, but the spirit board did give them the light to find the shadows... it told them where to find the Book of Shadows, in the attic. edit »

Phoebe: Good point, Chicken Little. It's just so hard for me to talk to her.

Chicken Little was a character in a children's story, called "Chicken Little", who believed that the sky was falling because an acorn fell on his head, convincing everyone he meets on the way that this is a fact. edit »
