Good signs for Bionic, Life, more

Networks ask for more scripts from newbies; Cane, Aliens in America, Chuck also get requests.

Of all the new shows this fall, only Gossip Girl can breathe a true sigh of relief. Earlier this week, the CW teen drama was the first to be given an order for a full season, which extended its run by nine episodes and caused massive celebrations at slumber parties all over the country.

More life for <em>Life</em>?

More life for Life?

Today there were signs that a few other shows may follow suit, according to Variety. Networks asked several writing teams from a handful of shows to deliver more scripts, which is generally a positive sign that the programs will be asked to stick around.

NBC was busiest, requesting three more episode scripts for Bionic Woman, Life, Journeyman, and Chuck. Elsewhere, CBS asked for four more Cane scripts, and CW asked for three more Aliens in America scripts.

However, just because more scripts are en route, it doesn't automatically mean more episodes will follow. A looming writers' strike in Hollywood has producers scrambling for scribes now so that limited damage will be done to the production of shows and films if the writers picket.

YAY!!!!
*starts dancing around the room*
Life is SO my favourite new show followed by Bionic Woman.

Since these two programmes is on tv in New Zealand almost halfway through their seasons, its getting better and better. I just love it when Life and Bionic Woman are sticking around and (fingers and toes crossed) the second season will go ahead as planned.

Love Journeyman and Life!!
Posted 12/10/2007 9:53pm
Journeyman and heroes are the only ones I have been really watching.

Don't care for chuck or Life it sucks and Bionic woman I thought I would like it because it had the actress that plays "Katee Sackhoff" Captain Kara 'Starbuck' Thrace from the new battlestar galactica as the advisary kind of like the bionic women that went bad.

I have this show on but really don't pay attention because the bad acting by the girl thats playing the bionic women.

Bionic women sucks!
CHUCK IS THE BEST! If you havent seen Chuck you're missing out! I've only seen 8 episodes and im HOOKED!
Posted 11/20/2007 2:38pm
Chuck, Journeyman are two excellent new shows. Yvonne Sharovski is the cats meow. Chuck is perfectly cast also. I am a sucker for time travel movies, shows ect... always loved them. Now for the bad news...or should I say bad shows. Bionic woman is a turkey. Lindsay Wagner where are you? THAT was the Bionic woman. Nothing interest about this woman at all. Maybe if they cast (Chuck) Yvonne Strahovski in the role of Jaime Summers, it would have worked better. I would've for me :-)

chuck is the best of all!!
Posted 11/08/2007 10:16pm
New shows I'm watching: Chuck (love it!), Bionic Woman (it's OK), Life (pretty good), Moonlight (also pretty good), and new fav Women's Murder Club (love it, too).

Keep it coming Chuck, Bionic Woman & Reaper. But I need my shows.

Keep Moonlight and Chuck! Two of the best shows to air this fall or ever!
Posted 10/21/2007 2:33pm

Best new shows so far that I've been watching:
BIONIC WOMAN - I was a huge fan of the original (loved Lindsay Wagner) and was deeply concerned about a new different version coming out, but this new version is SO different from the original that it was foolish of me to worry about comparisons between the two. Aside from the name, this is a totally different show from the 70's version and it is winning me over with each week's new episode being better than the last. I love the character of Sarah Corvus the "original" Bionic Woman, who with each new episode, manages to convey MORE depth and complexity (which is amazing because this is a really complex lady) and despite her dark side,is incredibly managing to convey feelings of sympathy for her character from the viewer. Katee Sackhoff is an incredibly talented actress in being able to accomplish this. Wow!!!She's explosive!
Kudos to Michelle Ryan as well, as with each new episode her character is becoming more "fleshed out" (pardon the pun) and likeable. I am still hoping that the one person that holds hope for both these women is indeed somehow still alive (Will).
I am really hoping NBC holds onto this show and gives it the chance it deserves to grow.
PUSHING DAISIES...caught this one by pure chance and it is a refreshingly different kind of show that manages to have elements of bizarre humor, fantasy and suspense in each episode.Visually stunning to watch as well.It manages to take a dark concept like death and put it into a lighter element...not an easy thing to do. Definitely deserves a chance to last out a full season.
GOSSIP GIRL - great new "O.C - like" show
DIRTY SEXY MONEY - so far have only seen the pilot which I really liked...need to catch up on the episodes I recorded since then...this is one really whacked out family with all their dark secrets and crazy antics.
REAPER- another really bizarre concept that seems to work...lots of fun to watch.
CARPOOLERS- this show has been slowly growing on me since its debut...it has elements of that weird/quirky Office-like humor in it...hoping it will be around for a while.
Honorable mention since I haven't seen them yet goes to:
Chuck & Journeyman... have been recording, so am looking forward to checking them out..have heard good things about both.

Yeah more scripts doesn't mean much, Journeyman was cancelled and they requested more scripts. I'm not too suprised that these shows are getting more scripts, except maybe Life. all the other ones are kinda no-brainers.
Posted 10/16/2007 10:31pm
Enjoying Chuck, Journeyman and Life. Bionic Woman was better off left in the 70's with gas lines and Disco. I tivo Reaper to view in the dull tuesday 10pm time slot.BRING BACK THE DRESDEN FILES!
Posted 10/16/2007 3:22pm
Moonlight is awesome. I personality think that it is better than Ghost Whisper. I really hope CBS will keep this show.
Posted 10/16/2007 3:17pm
Here's hoping that Cane, Dirty Sexy Money, Life, Journeyman and Bionic Woman stay around for a long time.
Posted 10/16/2007 1:22pm
Moonlight is a half-assed version of the recent Blood Ties (a much better show). Moonlight is a watered down Angel, Forever Knight and every other vampire detective story ever. It has yet to add anything to vampire mythology or establish itself as anything unique. The closest they have come to anything original is the concept of "cleaners" The only reason it will last is because no one wants to cancel anything with a strike looming.

As for Bionic Woman, I'm enjoying it, and I'm old enough to remember watching the original when I was a kid. For people complaining it's not the same and asking for Steve Austin, get over yourself. It's a new show. The took the title and main character name. The rest is new and they have no reason or obligation to exactly match the original (and thank god they haven't).
Posted 10/16/2007 5:04am
"MOONLIGHT" strongly reminds me of CBS' late-night "vampire as cop" series over a decade ago, "FOREVER KNIGHT". It's good...and I believe it will survive as a "companion" to "GHOST WHISPERER" on Fridays. With repeats seen on NBC/Universal's 'Sci-Fi' cable channel, the new "BIONIC WOMAN" CAN'T miss...even though I prefer the original.
Posted 10/15/2007 1:59pm
The only good thing about 'Bionic Woman' is Katee Sackhoff, otherwise it's rubbish. I am enjoying 'Moonlight' though
Posted 10/15/2007 4:35am
Bionic Woman is really good... It might be similar to the old one but I don't really care cause I like the new series...
Posted 10/15/2007 1:15am
I'm sorry, but reviving Bionic Woman was a joke. This new one, Ms. Summers (or whatever her name is) is considerably younger than the original (and nothing to do with her not being a blonde), and the idea of her somewhat English accent? Why can't Hollywood keep coming up with FRESH tv ideas, instead of -- similar to Cinema-- revive old, familiar ones?? Next thing you know, many other classic faves will be revived, but horribly cast, badly written, and laughed off into never, never land - like WHAT'S HAPPENIN, ALL IN THE FAMILY, and so on. Second, the original Bionic was actually a successful partner spinoff of 'Six Million Dollar Man', with Colonel Steve Austin. Now, tv didn't consider THAT did they. Where's the new SMDM? They didn't revive that one yet. Much as posted previous -- if they want to revive a show, they should do it in an acceptable format. NOt just because some English hottie seems to all the rave right now. What about reviving the old Charlie's Angels again? I'm sure Hollywood will have no issue finding new Sabrina, Jill, Kelly, or Kris.

I hope Moonlight sticks around I love that show
Posted 10/14/2007 8:05pm
Good for Journeyman. After a so-so pilot, it's really picked up the pace.
Posted 10/14/2007 7:53pm
Life is quite good, but thanks only to the lead, the guy that plays Charlie Crews, that actor and the character are amazing, however the stories are only mildy good and the rest of the cast, with a minor exception of his roommate, are quite bad, his partner, even tho she is unrealistic hot for a cop(plz the woman was a nfl cheerleader), but that doesn't really care, better than an ugly one, this is tv, but come on they could pick someone who could actually act, she is just awful playing a cop, she was alright as the jealous assistant in ALIAS or the lesbian in THE L WORD, but she certainly doesn't fit this part.

Bionic Woman, even tho the premise of the show is great, the show itself deserves to be canned, considering the incredibly competent production team and the writers behind it, surprisingly this crap is just that... crap, we see a grown woman acting like an annoying pre-teen girl who keeps crying she got artificial limbs, boo-hoo, they should just have left her legless, with one arm, one eye, one ear and shaved her head and eyebrows for the fun.

I hope that Chuck stays around the entire season, but really it'll be a challenge to even make the plot plausible... even after the first opening episodes.

"chuck rules journey man needs to stop and be off air reaper to much daisies stay is the best pilot i seen this year bionic women cool show just to go faster with the story some half hour show need to be gone"

Firetoon12, either you type as fast as you think - or you could be Sweet D's boyfriend from "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia".

Anyway, I poke fun at you because it seems like you really had something interesting to say, and I wanted to read it, but it made no sense. Your ramblings made it hard for me to understand what you meant, as you mentioned a bunch of the shows that I, myself, find interesting as new shows this year.
Posted 10/13/2007 7:46am
