Clancy became so immersed in the role of the Kurgan while filming Highlander that, according to the director, he became scary to be around. (edit)
Clancy is a patron of the Beth Brown Memorial Fund, a scholarship programme designed to assist poorer students who wish to study in the field of paediatric healthcare. The charity is in honour of his elder sister who died in childhood of leukaemia in 1964. (edit)
Clancy played senior prison officers in three movies dealing with miscarriages of justice: Captain Hadley in The Shawshank Redemption (1994), Lieutenant Williams in The Hurricane (1999) and Lieutenant McMannis in Last Light (1993). (edit)
Clancy was the voice of Superman's nemesis, Lex Luthor, for over a decade in the television shows Superman, Justice League, and Justice League Unlimited. He also appeared as Luthor in the World's Finest Batman/Superman crossover film. (edit)
Clancy discovered acting at a young age when a neighbor introduced him to the works of William Shakespeare. (edit)

Clancy Brown: (regarding The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension) I think it could have done well, but it got mixed up in one of those Hollywood studio game things, where they all change places. "Buckaroo Banzai" was just so strange that nobody really knew how to approach it. It really is way ahead of its time. (edit)
Clancy Brown (about the premise of Carnivāle): Throughout the history of man, there has been a constant struggle between the forces of light and the forces of darkness. God and the Devil have decided to wage this war on Earth - with human proxies. Occasionally, these two avatars of light and darkness meet. And subsequently, a Dark Age or an Age of Enlightenment ensues. (edit)
Clancy: There's a lot of people out here that spend a lot of time in promotion, and that just seems like a big waste of time to me. (edit)
Clancy Brown: If it's something that reaches out and grabs me, I want to do it. I have a lot of trouble doing things that don't grab me. So, I'm not a very good actor in that way. I can't fake it. (edit)
Clancy (on the making of Highlander): For the scene we did in the church there could have been a wonderful dialogue - "God, this doesn't compare to the Greek Orthodox Church," or "I liked it better when they did it in Latin," or any type of thing. There's all sorts of twists that could have been done. I like the little twists like that because they make the audience think. "Highlander" still has its action and everything, but that's really all we went for here, the good guy/bad guy, cops and robbers type of thing. (edit)
