The one case that haunts John Stillman and how many lives a single moment of rage can impact hide show

In January of 1980, Tim Barnes, an 8-year old boy who was last seen leaving a local store after buying a notebook for school, is found beaten and dead from hypothermia.

In an unusual beginning to the story, Lt. Stillman, for mysterious reasons, asks Lilly to look into the case because he thinks she might see something he missed. As the investigation unfolds, myriad suspects, including the neighborhood's Catholic priest, three glue-sniffing black teenagers, the store merchant and the boy's own parents all appear to be viable suspects. In the end, the murderer turns out to be someone who acted in a moment of uncontrolled rage.

What struck me most is how many lives were impacted by the moment of rage. The list begins with Tim and includes Tim's parents, his two siblings, the other suspects, Lt. Stillman, who lost his marriage because he missed the birth of his daughter because he was too busy working the case, Lt. Stillman's family, the murderer, Tim's teachers, classmates and friends. There would be many others also.

All in all, a very good story which includes John Stillman being able to finally move on from this case and Lilly's blossoming relationship with ADA Jason Kite.

    Loved it hide show

Thank god the writers strike is over cos we need people like them to give us amazing episodes of the programmes we love just like this one. I loved how this episode had a personal connection to Det Stillman. I have only just started watching Cold Case so to see an episode that centered around someone other than Rush or Valens was a nice change. This episode had a nice and interesting storyline. In some episodes of Cold Case I can estimate and have a pretty good idea of who the killer is but I liked that this episode kept me guessing. Great stuff.

Several suspects in the murder of an eight year old boy! hide show

When an eight-year old boy was murdered several years ago
One of Det Rush's colleagues, the comic relief Det Stillman in case he couldn't solve at all, asks her to re-open it
And she does to find several suspects. Including the boy's parents, a priest, several teenagers. It just keeps getting very interesting indeed! Great show as usual and always!
