Cold Case stars Kathryn Morris (Minority Report, Mindhunters) as Lilly Rush, the lone female detective in the Philadelphia homicide squad who finds her calling when she's assigned to "cold cases" -- crimes that have never been solved. Previously, she used her instinctive understanding of the criminal mind on current murders. Now, she's interrogating witnesses whose lives and circumstances have since changed, making use of today's new science and finding fresh clues to solve cases that were previously unsolvable, all of which appeals to this smart, driven detective. She's also prepared for the consequences: that her work will open up old wounds and may lead suspects to commit new crimes. When she hits a dead-end, Lilly seeks advice from her respected mentor, Lt. John Stillman (John Finn, Catch Me If You Can). Also on the team are Det. Scotty Valens (Danny Pino, The Shield), Rush's confident and strong-willed partner; Det. Will Jeffries (Thom Barry, The Fast and the Furious), who's been around long enough to serve as Lilly's link to the past; and Det. Nick Vera (Jeremy Ratchford, Angel Eyes), a tough cop who's considered the go-to guy for getting a confession. Lilly makes it her business to ensure that no victim is ever forgotten. On the show's third season, former narcotics detective Kat Miller (Tracie Thoms, Wonderfalls, As If), a young and spunky girl, joins the team.

Cold Case is created by Meredith Stiehm (ER, NYPD Blue). Executive producers -- in addition to Ms. Stiehm -- include such reigning entertainment industry names as Jerry Bruckheimer (The Amazing Race, CSI), Shaun Cassidy (Invasion, The Agency), and Jonathan Littman (The Amazing Race, Close to Home). less

  I decided to post several spoilers. Due to budget cutbacks, not every cast member will appear 16 out of 22 episodes ( According to Tracie Thom's Website), the only people that will be in all will be Kathryn and Danny. The first episode is called- 7X01- The Crossing- It's a 1966 episode featuring the music of Ray Charles 7x02- Hoodrats- About a skateboarder that was killed in 1995, Also we'll be seeing an Appearence of Scotty's parents 7X03- Jurisprudence- Is a 2004 case- A Scotty centric episode We're also going to see a reappeaence of Eddie Saccardo from Episode three one, we don't know that it will be an actual relationship; considering that he's still undercover. I'm willing to be that it will just be a work them, and the'll just remain friends. I can't really see any real lasting relationships in this show anyhow, it's not something the series is about anyhow less

  I really got into Cold Case over the last year and I've noticed it really seems to dissed by the networks, CBS moves instead of putting on a week night, puts it on Sundays where it keeps getting preempted. TNT only shows one epsiode at 2pm and then shows thw episodes late at night like around 2am&3am, it used to air back to back episodes on Sunday nights on my local CBS affilate but now they've replaced it with Without a Trace. And then to top it off none of the seasons are on DVD. I've heard that the main reason the show isn't on DVD is because of the music rights to which I have to ask didn't the producers of the show have secured those for DVD release also considering how big DVD sells are now adays? Are the music rights what keeps the show from getting decent play in the syndiacted/rerun market? It's such a shame becuase this is a really great series with a great cast and deserves better treatment than it's been getting. less

  I love this episode. The farter back an episode goes the better. I really like the shows that date back to the 30's or 40's. I really liked the female pilots especially the firecracker, viviane. I didn't like the character Daniel Baldwin played he was mean to Lily. I did wonder where Tracie Thomas was in this episode. I missed her. I love cold case this is my favorite show of all time. When i can't be home to watch it I tape it. I also watch it during the day on TNT. I am going to be sure and search the WASP (lady pilots) this is very interesting because i didn't know about them. I hope they do a story soon featuring more of Lilie's dad and her new found half brother.

  My favourite show nowadays. hide show

  Why "Cold Case" deserves to be watched? Well, let's start saying that the storylines are very interesting, of course some better than the others but I can afirm that I have only seen a boring episode on this show.
  
  The cast is very good and I have to complain about Kathryn Morris not being nominated for any award because of her portrait of Lilly. Another important thing is the technique used on the show with the use of the colours and the transitions. And at last, but not least, the very well selected music (the guilty of why the series is not on DVD yet). Good stories, good characters and actors, amazing music and a wonderful technique, this is what "Cold Case" offers to the viewer. A very good show to watch, don't miss it.

  underrated classic hide show

  This is one of the greatest detective shows of all time. The premise is simple enough: detectives at a fictional Philadelphia Police Station reinvestigate cases that have never been solved. Some of these cases date back pre-1960s, but most occur sometime post-1960s and later. The character that really steals the show is Kathryn Morris as Lilly Rush, the lead detective and until mid-season 3 the only female detective. Kathryn is a beautiful and truely underrated actress. However, what bugs me is:
  a. how can those involved in the case possibly remember stuff from 30, 40, 50 or even 10 years ago?
  b. half the stuff the team "learns" during the reinvestigation should have been brought up in the first place!
  c. lack of forensic work (in real life forensics solves most if not all cases, not interviews)
  d. the odds of finding a missing person or serial killer in a matter of days/weeks is very low Other than these four points "Cold Case" is a truely great show!

  ok... I don't know how without a trace got cut and not this. Without a trace was better ranked, but after that is being said.
  
  This show is an ok watch. I mean some of the eppisodes are head scratcers as far as how the hell they stayed cold for so long. Others are just not believeable at all. I find it a little lacking in character development of the team.
  
  I liked it a lot better when I first started watching the show, but now, not as much. It is only fair in the scale of things to watch. I think the best episode as far as I am concerned is the first eppisode of the fifth season.

  Should they cancel Cold Case? hide show

  I think not! It's a great show and the cast doees a great job. CBS would be stupid to get rid of this show. It's the best show still on TV now a days! It's better than them "everyone can tell it's so unrealistic" CSI shows. The episodes are always good. They should just move it to another night. I love football [ Philadelphia Eagles :) ] but sports are making the ratings slow. I know you would never get rid of sports, I wouldn't either, but you should move Cold Case to another night next season. Cold Case
