add »Kain, Byers, and Fletcher assemble on the grounds of Camp Windstorm. Each is given their own color for the final competition: Kain (blue), Byers (yellow), and Fletcher (red). Commander Boesch addresses the men and explains the final competition ahead. The three men will first compete on the Obstacle Course. The order in which the men finish will determine how much weight each man will carry during their next mission. The winner will carry a 30-pound pack, the 2nd will carry a 40-pound pack, and the 3rd will carry a 50-pound pack. Byers finishes first, followed by Fletcher, then Kain in last place. The three men competes in the Desert Assault mission, a 600-meter footrace which includes target shooting. As shells detonate around them, each man must run the course, stopping at various points along the way to load their weapon, shoot out a target that matches their color, and then unload and make safe their weapon again before continuing. The first two men to reach the finish line advances, while the last place finisher will be discharged. The competition begins. Kain is in the lead, followed by Fletcher and Byers. As they run towards the second target, Byers overtakes Fletcher, but at the second target, Byers begins having trouble with his weapon. Fletcher shoots out his target first and moves back into second place. Kain maintains his lead, Fletcher is second, and Byers still have problems with his weapon back at the second target. Byers gets his rifle to fire moves on. Both Kain and Fletcher are on their third target. Byers' weapon again jams repeatedly at the third target. Finally, Byers gives up and withdraws from the race. Kain finishes first. Fletcher comes in second. Back in their tent, Byers is disappointed in his loss. Kain stays quiet, and Fletcher gives Byers a quick embrace before leaving the tent to give him some space. Byers' weapon is then examined after the race. It is concluded that Byers did not set his rifle's magazine correctly and the bolt repeatedly slid back and forth over, creating metal shavings inside the chamber that caused the weapon to jam. The three men assemble on the Camp Windstorm grounds for the final Discharge Ceremony. Commander Boesch formally dismisses Byers. Kain and Fletcher give Byers a formal salute and handshakes. Byers leaves the camp. Kain and Fletcher will face off one-on-one in a mission called Last Man Standing. Each man will don 60 pounds of protective gear and will be issued two weapons loaded with paintball cylinders. The two men will start at opposite ends of a maze constructed of glass panels and progress towards each other. The first man to hit the inside circle of the other's face mask will become the Combat Missions Champion. As the mission begins, Kain and Fletcher search through the maze. Kain sees Fletcher and fires first. Fletcher begins to chase Kain through the maze. Kain fires back at Fletcher as he runs. Kain continues to run as he struggles to reload, with Fletcher in hot pursuit. As they continue to chase one another, the glass walls begin to shatter around them. Fletcher's finds himself as the one being pursued. Finally, both men stop, face each other, and begin firing at point blank range. Both splatter the other's face mask repeatedly with paintballs. Fletcher gets a shot to hit inside the target first and wins the mission.
